My 02 Boxster has a 5-speed manual so I don't know Tip fluids but the 5-speed has been serviced with whatever fluid the parts department shoves over the counter to the Porsche tech and the tranny is working just fine with over 278K miles on it.

So, and I think you know where this is going, if I had a Tip I'd use whatever fluid comes across the parts counter.

BTW, Tip fluid service is a bit fiddly (to use the vernacular) so you want to have this done by a shop that knows how to do it right.

Monty, google it s it is on Youtube. But be warned it is fiddly & difficult unless you have access to a ramp. You can use the Porsche fluid or several equivalents but all are expensive. On my 2000 Boxster I had an OPC change it & the filter & also readapt the gearbox so it relearnt everything. Made a big difference, was around £300 but they had to cut every other pan bolt out as they had seized in!

Thanks for the replies I do have a pit to use, but I did wonder about those pan bolts when replacing the the filter, I think I will get this done at a garage though I was quoted £210 by Elite porsche which I dont thinks bad.
