Hi all, I am thinking of fitting a K&N induction kit, should I be aware of any issues before going ahead or Expect good results

My 3.4 996 has had one for about 6 years, sounds great, no MAF issues at all (never even been replaced, never mind any fouling issues that some people report).

I'd highly recommend it - with PSE it sounds superb when coupled with the induction bark on full throttle at higher revs cloud9

I've got a 996 C4S and was considering the same. I've read that it maybe advisable to blot the filter with paper towels to soak up excess oil so it doesn't spoil the MAF and also consider fitting a heatshield to guard against heatsoak from the engine.

Have you got a performance exhaust too? I'd be interested to hear what it sounded like with an induction kit.

Do it- my indie mechanic fitted the full cold air induction kit to a standard 996 3.4 and the owner then dynoed the car- it made 24hp more than standard.
I have fitted the K&N kit to my car recently, coincidently along with Dansk sport exhausts, because the originals were shagged.
I am very happy with the result - and the improved mpg!

I'm pretty sure my mpg's far worse than it would be if the car was standard...but that would be down to my use of it and enjoying the noise wink

Makes you wonder why Porsche bothered to stroke the engine (replace the crank, rods and pistons) in the Facelift 996 to take it to 3.8L and give it another 20 bhp - they should have just dropped in a panel filter and been done with it. wink
