The 6 has to be the best long term bet. First of the GT3 RS', last of the manual, non PASM, PSM 911. A sure fire classic in my view, but it has been slow to take off.

Apparently JZM sold a low miler for £100k without it being advertised a week or so ago.
The 6 RS is arguably a better car than the 7.1 RS and unarguably a far rarer beast - largely because they weren't sold in USA / Canada.

The last two advertised on PH went for £75k and £79k and I know about another two selling within the last month - they went for sigificantly more than the PH advertised cars. The best cars are generally not advertised and the cars that appear in PH classifieds are the same cars again and again - often with a story. If anyone is thinking of buying a 6RS then let me know as I have info on about 40 cars - sometimes very little but occasionally quite a lot of stuff that you'd probably want to know.

At what point though does previous history not count though?

Yeah theyll always be cheaper but will there be a msssive gulf?

Kind offer and its definitely worth checking the history of an RS6 with Andrew.

Its definitely rarer, but its certainly not better in my opinion. As a road and track car the 997 series is the pinnacle in RS/GT3 form. The RS' are a bit garish for the road but they make it up for it with shorter gearing and a responsive chassis. It'll never be bettered now that we are into hybrid tech and playstation gearboxes.

I can't see how this price inflation can continue. Perhaps I have missed the boat, perhaps we'll get a correction? My betting would be the latter at some point.
hmmm, well my checkbook is ready for when it happens to F40's....

Got to agree with this. 997RS is quite a bit better as a road car than a 96.

On a track, if you're really good then there's an argument to be made but as a road car, sorry, newer car better in just about every way.

It depends on what your definition of "better" is.

Sometimes being not quite so good is also better. biggrin

gotta say one of my favourite F cars. What are they now 500-600k? Still think the 355 is the next F classic

I am guessing that the gentleman who's posted this 7.1 RS for sale at £189k saw the state of the market, walked out to his shed, took a picture on his phone and posted it to PH in the off chance that someone with the right mixture of money and stupidity comes along.

Thats what all you chumps on here said to me when I sold mine for £100k, though I must admit, £190k is a bit salty

I think the cost reflects the 'pain protection' the car has

This was a tricky call for me as I have a 991RS on order. Of my two 997s the Gen 2 car is better in every way, but I simply could not part with the Gen.1. There is no logic, just sentiment. First Porsche I had owned in many years, its like an old shoe, and I will keep it permanently. Also, Gen 2 prices are going crazy on this side of the pond, so the car will be gone shortly and it will be a year before the 991 appears.

Maybe his wife insisted he got rid of that "bloody car". So he duly agreed and is now telling her that its up for sale and no one is interested in it. She is happy he is trying and he is happy as he gets to keep his car. Either that or the vendor is delusional.

In this market I think it's the latter. Kind of you though to give him the benefit of some considerable doubt
