I looked at all 3 yesterday but decided against bidding. There was very little paperwork with the Jap car, the only history where the service stickers under the bonnet - they didn't have the logbook for it yesterday which put me off a bit, may have put off others - it looked a nice clean car though. I'm surprised the red CS made as much as it did given it's condition and history (imo) - I guess due to the low CS numbers. I thought the Manthey car was lovely - if I was going to bid it would have been this one - I thought it would have gone for a bit more though.

A lot of GT models have rather optimistic screen prices good ones will sell eventually especially if reduced a tad but suspect ones are also looking for top dollar.
Now winter is almost upon us they might not sell unless reduced the market is rather quite especially on 996 GT3s.
People who already own them are enjoying them I hope but others who fancy one might not want to pay the prices.
Only my opinion looking at the market at this particular time.

Quite frankly I am glad they went for this. Perhaps we will see them back at home on track now instead of with speculators who do not want to 'rack up the mileage'.

My only question is why the Manthey went so low compared to the MkI. Was it purely the difference between it being a MkII or are the beardies taking over and nt wanting non OEM cars??? If the latter mine is now worth £2.50.

Dont think many speculators have jumped on the 996 bandwagon yet. The RS maybe and maybe last year with some reportedly changing hands for good money but never seeing a FS ad.

Lots of the owners i know and have meet purchased them years ago when they was at the lowest and most run them as 2/3/4etc cars. 911UK used to have a group of track day goers (either 996/7) but thats been quiet as well as people have other priorities to spend their money on

Don't worry. I will race you to the bottom. My Manthey, being the original K400 car is worth £1.25

I think 996 will follow the trajectory of the 964RS and it will take just as long...

The sold price for the MK1 on the Silverstone website is £70k (presumably including all fees etc). I think that is decent money?

RE OEM: I think the more these cars are worth, the more OEM becomes important. You don't see many non-standard 964RS for sale today, as I suspect many have been put back to standard, repainted etc to be sold as "collector" spec cars. I guess the 996 will ultimately go the same way in the fullness of time... (though it will never have the cache of an air-cooled RS)

Definitely appears that the few cars that are selling are low mileage standard ones. I removed mine from sale last month and am in the process of putting standard suspension back on it, as I suspect the Moton adjustable dampers currently on it, may put some buyers off.
I'm not desperate to sell so will see where the market is at, in the spring....

I had the blue 968CS which was sold at the auction at the weekend. The car was sensibly modified and in good order but could have made more if standard, hey ho.

They sold the silver LHD 996mk1 which was from Japan I think.

The yellow car has been for sale through several places for about a year. Fancied it myself last year but it was far more expensive than the 996.2 GT3 CS I bought.

The only thing to check is whether or not it has the standard set of gearbox ratios.

In Switzerland 993's had a special ratio gear set to reduce noise ??

As an aside, around 300 of the 996MkI GT3's were Clubsport --- the body of the GT3 was of course heavier than the C2 because it was based on the C4 shell for strength.

Of the 300 Clubsports, around 75 were RHD --- so this is one of around 225 and lovely !

Looks perfect with the RS wing. The original mk2 wing never looked right to me.

There are 77 RHD clubsports in Australia alone, according to this:

If I was in the market for one, I'd definitely give that guy a call. Looks good and with mods, price and mileage potentially a great buy, if you actually want one to drive.

Investor speak for "might be difficult to flip and turn a profit on due to being slightly non standard" biggrin
Makes it no less desirable for those that want to actually drive their cars (for more than 500 miles a year... smile
