On track at Oulton Park. Revisiting threads like this make me miss that car.

Looking at the pictures on this thread I think I need to get mine out on a road trip next year, maybe take in back to the 'ring

I dropped it off to Porsche for it's service this morning and was quite disappointed to see I'd only done 800 miles in 2 years.

...more off road (of sorts)

...an older car also off road or sorts

...and my first one in the open air

There is one missing...
Yes, I've had a few 996 GT3s over the years because they have been the best of the bunch for me. Awesome cars.

The later ones also have their strengths - the 997.2 the most developed for road and track. However, the purity of the 996 is unmatched especially as part of a multi-car garage.

The mk1 Clubsport at 911V took no time to sell, as did the black mk2.

The red/white 6RS at JZM also didn’t hang around.

Seems to be two extremes; some cars sticking around for a long time and some just get snapped up.

New yellow 996.2 at 9E with loads of options.

I can take it or leave it with the carbon bits but the rest are nice (Ohlins, Cup diff, Girodiscs, painted centre console tongue out leather dash tongue out etc)

Air vents are truly horrid on that one.

Two new ones on the market, both private and both look pretty damn clean.

Yellow Manthey Clubsport cool

Whilst both awesome, its hard to compute that the yellow one is the price of a decent 996 C2 more than the black one!

If my numbers came up tonight I’d have the yellow one ;-)

Both of those seem to be great examples of each GT3 generation..The 996 GT3 in Black is a tough sell but a 996.1GT3 in Speed yellow is the perfect spec IMO.
How do the gen 1 and gen 2 996GT3s compare..? The Basalt black one does seems to be pretty good value but its the yellow that draws the eye.

One of 26 UK Clubsport plus Manthey upgrades, and low mileage.

I think it’s well priced.

Mk1 I prefer Zanzibar, but Speed Yellow will do me just fine. smile

The Gen 2 is a comfort car with decent spec and in black
The Gen 1 is a clubsport in perfect spec and in yellow

...a bit unfair to compare them both smile

It has been done to death previously. I think the conclusion was that both are great, each has its ardent followers, some like the classic lines of the gen 1, others the slightly enhanced performance of the gen 2. Each group is very happy.

Personally, I'm a gen 2 guy - but plenty of gen 1 types around here.

I know that road well..Its one of the most scenic and desolated places in Wales..The hump back bridge you see in the valley is where Autocar testers test out the quality of spring/air suspension in extremis.

It's a cracker, and still relatively unknown, if it were two lane road from start to finish, it would be a tarmac nirvana smile

It's a great road if a p.i.a to get to/from at one end. And pretty bumpy in parts. Lovely area in general.

This is the bit I don't get. A £16k difference? To me it's virtually the same car. Imagine how badass that mk2 would be with 16 grand's worth of mods.
