Cheers guys, that was recorded quite a while ago, August I think. The steering can be a bit 'engaging' which I quite like, that road is really nice but not the smoothest to be honest. Can't remember him talking about having to cut the dash for the front cage, never heard that before. Another couple of interesting Porsche reviews to come soon I believe.
Yes as was pointed out the reg does suit the car wavey
Great car Sandy which brought back a lot of happy memories. I had a Speed Yellow 996.1 GT3CS with the Manthey K400 kit. Best car I've owned by some margin and much missed.

Very true for the GT3 as well. Even the standard brakes when used well have strong enough retardation that it's really the tyres that are the constraint. Outright retardation is not night and day different just by changing the disks, but the long term cost of running is massively cheaper on floating steels (I have Alcons and they are hard to kill!), and there is an improvement in heat management over a long stint.

The single biggest difference in braking performance was the human element, I found. Having come back to the track after a few years' absence, I was braking too early and cooking my brakes.
I run Performance Friction front discs and pads on the GT3 which have been pretty faultless on track although the grooves do make for some noise the longevity has been good. I tend to find I'm noticing the looseness of the rear tyre temps before I notice the brakes temps. Does anyone have any experience of both Alcons and also Performance Friction on the GT3?
Yes on a 997 and would not buy the PF again. Mine cracked radially. Their pads had a tendency to fall off the backing plate after a while too. Performance wise absolutely fine but didn’t last as well as Alcon/Pagid combo in my experience.

For the gentleman who asked if my yellow car ion collecting cars is original undamaged not repaired or whatever purse let me aspire you it is as good as they come! It seems some people world rather have a C16 made for UK sticker under a bonnet that might be the car's 2nd and the low mileage with no provenance than an imported car that has led a sheltered life off the same production line as a uk one! They tend to forget that every Porsche for sale in the uk has been imported.... From Germany!
Absolutely stunning. Cyprus being first delivery destination would not put me off as long as the car is sound and her history can be verified with a load of invoices. Better than Gold that thing you should keep her honestly and store. She will appreciate more than storage costs. I'll look after her for free for you smile

Hi Kevin. Can you perhaps give me a call on 07956 877803 if she doesn't sell via auction for any reason. GLWTHS
To add my 2p to the mix .... the 996.1 was the first GT3 that led to the Cup and everything that followed. And maybe the CS was manufactured at Weissach.

But, if I didn't own a .1CS in fabulous condition .... as a car to track the .2 is the car that the .1 played safe on. Rev max lifted from 7800 to 8200 or 8400? rpm ... gearbox oil cooler, brakes to solve the shortcomings of the 993 Turbo brakes ... Maybe the shape is a little less organic, but to drive it is a very special thing.

997GT3 ? Maybe better, the last of the Mezger engine ... but PASM ??

Sold 57K plus fees, so just over 60K.
Roughly 10K less than the similarly nice 997 GT3 sold for a few weeks ago.
As you were.

CC is a good site for Porsche. Thats more than vendor would have got from specialist trade and little less than privately. Perfect for a quick sale.

Good sales price for the seller and a nice buy for the buyer, goes to show these cars sell well if priced correctly.

Glad to see it fetched proper money (even though it was blighted by not being a C16 car) biggrin

This or the Midnight example at JZM ? No brainer.

It looked an absolute peach. Hope the new owner enjoys it (despite the hopeless gear ratios, poorly chosen final drive ratio, buzzy engine, useless LSD, chassis dynamics biased towards understeer and the poorly judged suspension with anti roll bars that are too stiff ...) Not my words you understand smash

The raw and mechanical natural of these beasts is, ironically, precisely what has so many people looking back at them with such affection and interest. Same now with the GT cars which followed them.

I remember one review where the over-riding comments were:

1. It will bounce you off the road at every opportunity

2. How irresponsible of Porsche to design a car where you couldn't see the speedo above the legal limit .... !!

My reserve was £55k for the yellow GT3 on CC yesterday so £57k was a decent price in all fairness especially in today's climate. I have been here before except the last time I sold 2 cars I so knew I was going to regret was of my own doing there was no need. Around 10 years ago I struggled like mad to sell my 19k miles 328 with full service history eventually getting £26k for it! Around the same time I sold my 355 with 38k miles for £36k to an Irish guy, a scrap metal dealer, who caught the ferry over to Liverpool arrived with his pal had a quick look paid and was gone. The next morning around 10am he rang me asking "do you have anymore of these 355s" I said no why he said "I've just put yours into a ditch it's a write off but don't you be worrying am fine!"

The point I am making is I can guarantee that the GT3 will now be another one of my collection in the not too distant future where am gonna say "bloody hell I once sold a 28k mile immaculate 996 GT3 for £57k!" If anyone doubts that, if I am still about, I will repost this at the relevant time! As for cars we genuinely don't live and learn as our hearts rule our heads so enjoy em while you still can.
