My reserve was £55k for the yellow GT3 on CC yesterday so £57k was a decent price in all fairness especially in today's climate. I have been here before except the last time I sold 2 cars I so knew I was going to regret was of my own doing there was no need. Around 10 years ago I struggled like mad to sell my 19k miles 328 with full service history eventually getting £26k for it! Around the same time I sold my 355 with 38k miles for £36k to an Irish guy, a scrap metal dealer, who caught the ferry over to Liverpool arrived with his pal had a quick look paid and was gone. The next morning around 10am he rang me asking "do you have anymore of these 355s" I said no why he said "I've just put yours into a ditch it's a write off but don't you be worrying am fine!"

The point I am making is I can guarantee that the GT3 will now be another one of my collection in the not too distant future where am gonna say "bloody hell I once sold a 28k mile immaculate 996 GT3 for £57k!" If anyone doubts that, if I am still about, I will repost this at the relevant time! As for cars we genuinely don't live and learn as our hearts rule our heads so enjoy em while you still can.

Lovely black 328, clearly you enjoy your cars.

Nice to see you had a sensible reserve price of 55k, no point listing car for a price which it was never going to sell. You only have to look at how long some other 996gt3 cars have sat in the for sale section of PistonHeads to work that out.

CC is a good platform as it allows people to see what real world interest is like on certain cars, did any of the bidders ask to inspect the car before hand?

The one car I will never sell as I am giving it to my eldest son is my 02 Cat D 97k mile Tip Turbo. I've had it 5 years I recently snapped some bolts in the read driveshaft other than that it's been fine. I had it wrapped when I bought it then got a titanium exhaust and had Wayne Schofield map it. I bought some front GT3 brakes and new tires, I had the paddles fitted, that are far better than the switches on the steering wheel, then spent a few quid on tarting up the interior that is not to most people's taste understandably. This is all the car I will ever need, fast as, easy to get in and out of, doddle to drive with space for shopping and even a grandson in the back. I originally paid £20k for the car with full history even a letter from the owner at the time who bumped it in Spain in around 2009 describing what was damaged all superficial. It will carry on for many more years I am certain and my son will get my money back for it one day most probably more. You can have fun in some very reasonably cheap cars still today. Sorry for taking over the thread a bit.

I once owned the RHD 993RS Porsche's development car vin ending 90009 complete with log-book of journeys made including signatures of some very famous people within Porsche ...

I also owned the 964RS N-GT ... the first car that was given away by Porsche to Ulrich Richter to encourage him back into racing for them ... vin ending 9011 ... did 20k Km in it and it tought me to drive ...

Why did I ever sell them ?

Life is not a museum ... smile

Hey nice to hear from you how did you get on with the T350? Wish I had kept the 328 my biggest regret of any car I've sold not because they went up in value it was the car I always aspired to when younger.

GT4RS nobody came to view the car just as they did for my E30 M3 I sold on there a few weeks ago. Actually case in point I swapped my TVR with 993rsr above with his 328 we never met each other or did we see each others cars we just trusted each other after corresponding.

It seems people that can afford these cars are of the same ilk they are trustworthy and can't be arsed to travel! My T350 was my 6th TVR bought directly from the factory near where I live I used to love going to watch my car being built.

In the late 90's Mrs Digga and I enjoyed spec cling our TVR up and visiting the factory in Bristol Road to see the build process. Sometimes used to get the car serviced there too and usually involved dropping off after hours; security guard would be briefed and would let us in and sort out whatever courtesy car had been organised. Drove the press car Clarkson took to Monaco for whatever TV show and also drove the (very well fettled) original grey Griffith that as in all the car magazine reviews and later won British hillclimbs champs class with the chap who designed the Speed 12 chassis. Also remember Mrs got lost in the factory coming back from the loos one weekend when we were swapping cars.

Does anyone know if Mk2 came with Eibach springs at the factory?

Thanks.

I bought a set 4 years because they stopped making the Mk1 items for a good few months. I think the Mk2 items were H&R.

My lockdown project was degreasing and cleaning out 16 years of dirt and detritus from the wheel arches. Fun job!

I can confirm my springs are H&R branded/stamped. Not 100% sure these are OEM items but suspect so.

Cheers H.

My car has Moton dampers with Eibach springs; I read the other thread about Mk1, highlighted below, so just wondering if the springs on mine are factory Mk2 items.

Hmmmmm ? ??

One thing I would say - do not discard modified cars. When I was looking for mine, I test drove a Swiss 996.1 CS. It was ex-Belgium and it had been tracked hard. It was on 50,000 kilometres and it had new engine and gearbox installed by Porsche Zentrum Koln at 40,000km. It was on its original, but freshly rebuilt Bilstein/Eibach coilovers. It drove fine, and I was about to pull the trigger, but by the time the logistics with transferring the cash was worked out, somebody French from across the border in Geneva beat me to it.

I purchased the Mk2 springs a good 3-4 months prior to doing the suspension refresh.
I then found out the hard way, not only are the OE H&R Mk2 front springs about 20% stiffer, but they're also shorter, as in considerably shorter ...

Having replaced the springs and freshly refurbished Bilsteins, I lowered the trolley jack, and as I did, the tyre and wheel disappeared inside the wheelarch... eek

I jacked the car back up again, and frantically set to with a pair of "C" spanners.

Having wound the spring platforms up as high as they'd go, the wheel/tyres then ended up level with the wheelarch when I once again lowered the car onto the deck.

At which point I rang my local OPC, only to be told that Mk1 springs were available furious

I managed to sell the Mk2 springs and recoup their cost. But if anyone tells you Mk1 and 2 front springs are interchangeable, they're not !!
I think this is the image I took to highlight the difference. Note both are H & R smile

Just a resprayed car, in my eyes worth less than a standard one. Certainly the mention of SCoM wouldn’t be seen as a plus point.

SCoM you say ? Definitely worthwhile checking if it has outstanding finance then ...

Disclaimer : The above is a reference to the whole SCoM debacle, I'm not suggesting the car has any outstanding finance on it.smile

The yellow GT3 on collecting cars is mine as someone has pointed out. I am 64 and a true enthusiast. I have a small collection of cars and I have decided to go and live in the USA where my son and daughter live. I have already sold my Lancia Monte Carlo, the Rolls, X19 and my E30 M3. I have shipped my Alfa Spider over to the states for me to use. I bought the GT3 literally as an investment not to use. Because the car had lived in Cyprus and was a holiday vacation car to me was a real plus point. I have spent many trips to Nurburgring, Spa, Oukton Park etc and the GT3s are the Kings of most track days. My view on low mileage ones are if the mileage is genuine there is every chance most of the miles have been spent flat out on a track or more commonly they have been clocked! We all know how easy it is to have a digital odometer altered and lots do on cars like this because of the values, so being originally from an island in the sun to me was good news it came off the same production line as the UK ones but far more important was the ECU read out that the owner had in his folder as this shows the hours and rev ranges. Think about it how many Porches advertised for sale do you see with this in the advert?

I am not saying all GT3s have been fettled in this way but unless that data is available or the owner will allow you to have it read then walk away. I had the inserts changed to yellow leather but I can have them changed back to original at no cost to the buyer. Yes it's been in my garage a couple of years stood but it was fully serviced and looked over when I bought it and has done less than 500 miles or whatever since. I paid 65k for the car and the following year they were and a few still are at 79k. With emigrating the reserve is a lot lower than I paid so as the advert says my loss could be sometimes gain although I believe it's worth what I paid for it still today there isn't another for sale anywhere as good as this and being on the 06 plate makes it pretty unique. It's the right color in fantastic condition and the mileage is genuine and it's led a sheltered life! Darren at unique Porsche has just put on a new alternator and done a wheel alignment if you want an unbiased opinion of the car please ring him as this was only the 2nd time I have used him so their is no affiliation between us. Whoever buys this car I guarantee it will be free motoring with a big profit in a couple of years as naturally aspirated manual analogue cars like this in this condition will go through the roof.....mark my words I have been into cars like this for over 40 years if I wasn't moving I would never sell this car I would just have sat on it and waited.
