I think it would take 100K to part with my Mk1and even then I'd still have reservations.

There are another 90 Mk1s in Australia of which 77 are clubsports. There are 90 Mk2s as well.

Cars are generally far more expensive over there so GT3s never got as cheap as in the UK (probably nowhere else in the world did) but Mk1s have been sitting around $100k mark (£55-60k) for a while.

My impression is that they do not sell quickly because Aussies are paranoid that the good days are over and a recession is looming (even if one isn't, the loadsamoney commodities boom is over).

Footnote to this thread - I see that JZM sold both of their 996RSs today (listed at £120k and £150k - one was low mileage) and they hadn't been there that long either, so probably at or close to asking.

Its a bargain kids !

Better to drive than any 997 GT3 variant (IMO) and as a supple uk road car, the best of the 96 GT3's as well. Also the very first of the breed, the best looking and the rarest car in rhd form (barring the 4.0).

I suppose you could always get a 993s for 60k instead, or a 993ttS for 250k, a 930 for 100k, or a 4.0 for 350k, or a 360CS for 190k etc. biggrin

Yours is too Original, Jackal. If it had a 997 gear linkage, I might've considered it. wink

Not quite. For all RHD GT3s, Clubsports are actually rarer than the equivalent RS wink

And we all know that Zanzibar, Guards and Speed (in that order) are the rarest Mk1 GT3 "colours" smile

Has anyone got the colour splits for UK Mk1 996 GT3 Clubsports ?

Here's your starter for 10 :

DAB's : Zanzibar

PistolP's old car : Speed,

Marky911's old car : Guards

Whatsis face ? : Manthey K400 Zanzibar

Just 24 to go now smile

Didn't need editing - was accurate. Clubsports are typically not more than a quarter of the GT3 cars that come in and as such in the UK the RS is twice as common. 996.1 and 996.2 Clubsports both rarer than the RS (though the 996.1 is the most scarce of all as you say). Same is true for the 997.1 and especially the 997.2.

Nope. Rarer 996.1 GT3 colours than any of those 3 were:
Polar Silver (4) {most were Arctic - 34 of those}
Biarritz White (1)
Cobalt Blue (1)
Iris Blue (6)
Ocean Blue (1)
Forest Green (1)
PTS Renault Blue (1)
Rubystone (1)
Turquoise (1)

Black (13) is rarer than Speed Yellow (18) and Guards Red (15)

Speed Yellow is actually the second most common colour for the 996.1 GT3 in UK RHD spec. Guards is the third. Zanzibar is the fifth.

BUT - ALL are actually pretty rare. It is just that amongst C16s, 7 cars have unique colours. Which is a bit cool really isn't it?

Wow, interesting. Any similar breakdown for Mk2s?

Hi Colin,

You'll note my use of the word colours in my original post had a pair of these " ..........." around it smile
And with good reason, all the other hues you've listed off the Titanic site are rather on the dull side (though I've seen the PTS Renault Blue car today and it does look sufficiently "funky" to rate a second glance)

The Biaritz white makes a pleasent change too. But Lapis, Ocean, Rainforest etc just don't cut it on a Mk 1 996 GT3 IMO. Whilst my gloss black example looked menacing, I felt it hid a lot of the more subtle details of the aerokitted 996.

Zanzibar, Speed and Guards will most likely be the sought after colours in years to come,
There's nothing wrong with the other colours, but given the choice of a Midnight blue 964 RS or a Maritime blue example, most would I suspect go for the latter. And the same will most likely apply to the brighter coloured Mk 1 GT3's yum

Unfortunately not I'm afraid, I didn't have my phone with me frown Very different from how it looked in the few photos I'd seen previously. Best way to describe it would be as somewhere between Riviera Blue and Mexico Blue.

Hi, I have a RHD SY 996.1 GT3 CS. Have never seen another 996.1 SY GT3 in the flesh though have a mate with a 996.2 in speed. Had it 10 years now and was warned that yellow is bad for re-sale but proving popular on GT3's. Would have got an RS (love the plastic rear window and carbon bonnet) but not a fan of white cars.

Mine's done a similar mileage to the one quoted though is not standard having had JZM fit a K400 kit a few year back. Love the noise and extra poke though wonder what impact this will have on future values (not that I'm looking to sell now).

Driven that one, it was Nervs old car, and I think you're right, it was a Clubsport too.
