Apparently sold, anyone believe someone paid £74k for it?, it's certainly a record if they did? At this rate any GT3 is going to cost you over a £100k before long.

I'm not so sure. A bit like selling a house that's seen a big uplift in value due to market forces, unless you're renting or downsizing, you've still got to buy a replacement, and from what can see, there are few cars to a replace a Mk1 996 GT3 at a similar price level.
