In terms of re appraising value, how often is it necessary to do this and inform the insurance company ?
Is it fair to say that when taking out a policy appreciation/depreciation should be built into the underwriters quoting system for the 12mth period ?
I would generally follow the maxim that the more the market moves the more frequently you might need to update. The worst case scenario would be needing to claine 11mths and 20 days into a policy period. Threads like this are actually quite helpful for tracking real market values and one might imagine them useful when the day comes to negotiate with a loss adjuster. Is it fair to say that when taking out a policy appreciation/depreciation should be built into the underwriters quoting system for the 12mth period ?
I agree with the value thoughts aboove FWIW, bearing in mind I had a valn certificate provided but a few months ago at 60k. Things have moved on, as they do every Spring when the market livens up. I believe this is seasonal, not value driven. There have been practically no cars for sale for 6mths, now 4 or 5 have appeared ready for the "driving season" whatever that is.
Thanks for your input everyone. The renewal papers made no mention of value so I called them to check and they were planning on just using last year's value again. They are happy to up this to the 60k level for 25% extra premium. Since I am not planning on selling it this is the negative impact of today's bouyant prices.

It appears that for the moment the high watermark for a Mk2 car is the blue comfort that The Cambridge Motor Company has sold for £73,995 as that is how it is shown on their website.
Separately, a Polar Silver Mk2 CS with 20k on the clock definitely sold privately for £60k, needing £2k of work and a major service. The car was posted on Rennlist by the new owner last week. Did not have aircon, otherwise, would have been probably £65k.
HTH,

IIRC The Cambridge Motor Company Blue GT3 was a MK1 Comfort. In terms of the 'water mark' for a 996.2 GT3 comfort with low mileage and A1 condition - I'd say not less than £60k. Your insurers may require an independent valuation to support a figure such this.Separately, a Polar Silver Mk2 CS with 20k on the clock definitely sold privately for £60k, needing £2k of work and a major service. My 996 CS has been insured for an agreed value of £75k just last week. Too much? Probably this month but who knows where the prices will end up. All I know is that it would take years to acquire one just as good should the worst happen.
Its mad isn't it, i remember being offered your car when it 1st went up for sale, 11k miles, clubsport in a rare colour and i thought 44k was too much for it.how things change and what seems expensive is only relative to the time.

Don't get to excited, heard the owner off mk1 car changed his mind on selling. (After having no interest)

Not everyone is into social media and I'd hazzard a guess that probably less than 25% of this forums readers are regular posters.Good source told me this, take all adverts with a pinch of salt tho.

On the contrary, I know someone who was very interested and was planning to view the car last Saturday. The vendor's agent pulled the rug from under his feet late last week, stating the vendor had decided to sell the car to a mate he'd promised first refusal to (but had "forgotten" he'd done so......).Good source told me this, take all adverts with a pinch of salt tho.

My mate had planned to view the car on Monday, but the agent confirmed the sale of the car on the same day. So someone's telling some f*cking whoppers......

And if the car had been a minter, would he have paid the asking?
On the basis of what the higher mileage (72-74k) Zanzibar car at 911V sold for 6-8 weeks ago, I thought (and told him) it was £5k overpriced. But I'd also recommended the potential purchaser get it fully inspected by the likes of JZM and start/base his negotiations on the results of their findings.
lhd 6.2 silver comfort low miler .......... £100k !
