CCI excess (Aviva) is normal road excess plus 1K on track. Road excess is £500 upto £50K, £1K upto £75K, £2K upto £100K and £2.5K upto £150K.

So in theory you could have a total loss claim at £150K on track and the total excess would be £3.5K.
Never heard of that policy before. Thanks!

What are the limits on trackdays. As in number of days, etc?
...and do they cover the Nordschleife and Spa?
...that's where some of us ended up sticking with Mannings
This is the policy I have. Simply need to tell then up to 48hrs in advance what trackday. I find a level of reassurance knowing the underwriting is done by a proper outfit - Aviva. They do cover Spa. I will get the document out later and list them.
That would be useful to know - thanks.

Not a lot of help for me currently though - this years itinerary includes several track days on the Nordschleife as well as a first ever trip to Zolder. If I add a cheaper track capable car to the fleet at the end of the year though the GT3 will be doing very few days from 2016 and it might fit for me at renewal time in December.

Good to hear. Still going well? I loved that car. Was nicely set up too.

Edited to add: Squirejo has got one of my old cars too - in his case very old. Should not have sold either frown

Yeah it's been great, had 2 services at OPC mid Sussex and other than that not needed anything much other than the alternator rebuilding and tyres

Biggest problem was the dust off of the performance friction pads so I've gone back to oem as other than a fee laps of the ring it only gets used on the road

Good to hear. I had it from 13k and it was pampered.
Enjoy.

Anyone any idea what sort of reading a 996.1 with a Manthey K400 kit fitted would produce noise wise?
I'm guessing around 105db?

Haven't tracked my 996.1 since before JZM did the K400 upgrade around 4 years ago. My previous stock exhaust failed the static noise test at Bedford 5-6 years back but they did let me on providing I didn't trip one of the noise meters so ended up short shifting for much of the lap.

Sill even if I can get through a noise test I can't see myself taking the GT3 on track anytime soon for reasons pointed out by DiscoColin - seems you have to have deep pockets to track a GT3 these days. Any track days I did this year will most probably be in my Mini Cooper JCWGP. Motoring was much more fun back in 2004 when I got my 996.1

Depends what you tell them about the rev limit. If you admit the truth that the K400 revs to 8600, they will make you rev it to 5600 and then you will most likely fail. Mine read at 109, hence I tell them that it revs to 7200 and I can just squeeze under 105. However I am constantly being black flagged at Brands, even if I shift at 7500. Last time apparently it registered 106dB on the drive-by! But that was a full bore upshift from 4th to 5th at 8600rpm. Mine is the original K400 car, been told that Manthey changed exhaust suppliers at some point, so maybe yours could be quiter?

Europipe made the original system and M & M made the manifolds. Manthey then got M & M to make both the system and the manifolds. I've an original Europipe Manthey system waiting to be bolted onto my car. I think the Europipe silencers are probably heavier than the M & M items, and they're also fabricated from scratch rather than formed from two pressings.

The pressed M & M silencers can be seen on the bench in the first image, the fabricated Europipe items on the Zanzibar car beneath.

Thanks quite interesting.

Good to see RMA listed there.
Unfortunately for one of my cars do need proper Nordschleife cover (though they mention Touristfahrten whilst I only do closed trackdays)

5 trackdays probably a bit low for my main track car...but still interesting for other cars.

Yes. But with additional days available at £5 per £1000 cover its a pretty good policy overall and answers the concerns of those with excessive excesses.

That specifically says additional UK track days though, so according to the wording as written there is a strict maximum of 2 days overseas coverage regardless. It certainly helps with the excess situation though and looks a good option as long as (a) only 2 or your days are on the continent (b) you are only doing 5 days in total and of course (c) you are not planning to drive the Nordschleife at the Nurburgring. If I acquire something cheaper for next years 'ring trips then that may be an option for my GT3 from next year onwards though (assuming that nothing else in the landscape change).

Thanks for posting thumbup

I gather Cambridge Motors are much cheaper than others when dealing with SOR, and they sell them quickly..

I see the Cameron car has just dropped 5k in price to a more reasonable £64.950.

Hi Luke, hope you're well ? The car belongs to a PH'er who doesn't post on here that often these days. As Ade pointed out to me last night, it's not a Clubsport tongue outbiggrin
The car is probably about as far as you could go with a roadable Mk1 from a N/A engine/gearbox spec perspective.

Good thanks Henry! I got fooled by the nomex and CS cage. I'm struggling to imagine what this car must feel like to drive... lively I would have thought.

I've never seen those rims on 996 before, they really suit the car IMO

I'm sure I've seen this car at a trackday at Silverstone a few years back. A 996.1 with 4.1 Litres and 500BHP sounds awesome and with the other mods I'm sure its pretty epic on track too.

I don't think the 18" versions are available anymore. They were eye wateringly expensive though ......
