Not many new ones coming on the market and the ones for sale seem to be sticking?

What did it sell for at BCA auction?

Interesting thread this....not managed to read it all

However on the subject of generous bids by WBAC etc

A connected company to the one I work for traded In a 996 GT3 Mk2 at the start of the year (they have little experience of selling this kind of stuff). It was on a 2006 plate (late registered I guess) anyway it had a cap code (used by the industry ) that started with 997 so immediately assumed it was a gen 1 997 GT3, and therefore I showed my interest in buying it, when they sent the photos it was clearly a 996, which made the £60k+ bid go from me good value to bloody generous....

I wonder if the cock up with cap codes is what caused the earlier poster to get such a generous bid for his mk2 996 GT3 from WBAC.....either way great to see an owner profit from dealing with WBAC biggrin

The 996 from work....last seen at an auction (yellow)

I was told from a reliable source in the Porsche sales business that it sold at Blackbushe for £54,500, so a huge drop from what WBAC gave me for it.
They paid me retail money for it, i can buy it back now and still have quite a little sum left if i wanted to, but unfortunately due to my back related problems this is a chapter in my life thats done and dusted now, but at least i owned my iconic dream car for a couple of years.

Definitely seems that the 996 GT3 market has stalled. Anyone aware of any selling in the last month or two?
A great choice of cars for any prospective buyers at the moment.
Is the 997 GT3 market the same?

I could be in the market for one soon, house move and Cayman R to sell first..

Budget will be £53-55k, sounds low I know.. If this is track season, they could drop winter time too.

So will be keeping my eye on the market, just timing at the moment.

Just back from a little jaunt in South Wales in mine. As I saw the odo hit 33,333 miles, while the rev counter was sweeping past 8000rpm in 4th, all I could think of was how lucky I was to own it.

Sub 70k there is nothing to touch it. I will be like a Viking Chieftain - buried in it one day....

Ha, ha, ha. Think of the others Cherubator, someone else might want to enjoy it. If you are going to do it, do it properly in an old immigrant boat that has been left on the Kent coast with some used pallets. It might serve as a warning to those wishing to cross. Ha ha.

Think of the children..........

If someone else wants to enjoy it, they have to pay the proper price. £55k-ish area mooted on here is derisory when compared to a GT4 being advertised for £80k+ Hence I am on the lookout for pallets and a suitable beach (hopefully to be used in another 40+ years) but one needs to be ready, you never know... wink

Maximum 10% return on Auction price seems low once overheads, capital outlay, warranty fee, sales of goods act etc is taken into consideration by the trade seller? I guess they hope to arrange finance and take in a handsome p/x from the buyer to make it stack up.

Just as a matter of interest, this car was for sale at OPC cardiff for about a year, maybe slightly less and they couldn't move it. Reason is that it has a huge gap in the service history.
OPC Cardiff were selling it at 104k then came down to 90k odd and the buyer refused about 85k for it. It was for sale with I believe a 3 month or max 1 year warranty as it didn't qualify for the usual 2 year package.

Even though the milage is so low, I think the gap in service history is about 7/8 years where it just wasn't serviced at all.
People who buy these cars, you and I, care about such things when shelling out the best part of 100k. If it was on for 75k I am sure it would sell and someone would take a punt, maybe track it and enjoy it.

I have seen this car in the flesh and it does appear to be a original low mileage car. Porsche Cardiff had it for sale for quite some time and dropped the price a number of times to try and keep interest.

First I have heard about a gap in service, history? If this is the case I can understand why it hasn't been sold for above £80k. Can't be many non rs 996 gt3 cars to sell above 80k in the last 10 years.

From my understanding the owners son bought the car for a lot less than what they have it advertised for now and look to bag a big profit, I think they have owned it for around 5 years.

Imo apart from the gap in service history (if true) you will be hard pushed to find a better example, it's just a shame about the asking price!

Yes I agree, I have also seen it and its immaculate but the gap in the S/H is 100% correct and hence would rear its ugly head when you come to move it on. If buying to keep for 10 plus years then would be worth the investment but how many do that?
Most people keep cars like this for about a year!

I have to agree that anyone looking to buy this car at its current asking price would expect the s/h to be 100%, Even if you kept it ten years I would imagine you would still get questioned why the gap. The market for cars like this is small as you couldn't really use it without effecting the price.

That aside we would all love it sat in the corner of our garage.

I sold it to JZM to Russ Feb 2014. Mileage 45,560
I originally bought it from Paragon circa 18 months before.
GT3s are now silly money in my opinion.
Hope that helps.

I do agree a little, some cars at silly money.

IMO <flamesuiton> I think a nice straight 40-50k GT3 996 should be £50-65K (inc private and dealer) depending on spec and service history, the Clubsport should be the upper price.

Of course a nice sub 30k vehicle with lovely history will be up to £65-70k at a dealer.

Maybe why they are not selling at the moment?

vehicles without buckets need to be the lower end.. (mileage dependant of course)

Hi Cliff.
Hope you are well. The car was nothing short of amazing during my ownership. Apart from a service and brake fluid change (carried out at jzm) it never needed anything but obviously due to my back problems I didn't do massive mileage in it.
I have never regretted buying it but was very sad to see it go and felt awful when it was touted around the car auctions it just seemed too good for that.
I hope it finds another owner that will look after it properly as I did. I do miss it.
