997TT exhaust tips

Hello, my 07 turbo is immaculate save for the exhaust tips which I think are verging on the tatty side and letting the car down! Potentially a bit anal of me but this has been said before They are certainly beyond saving with a good metal polish, I got bored of trying....
I'm still debating a complete exhaust upgrade but this is a considerable cost so am now thinking about just replacing the tips.
Does anyone have experience of these (or indeed the company's other products)?

Overall I think I prefer round tips.

I don't think its just you. I like the OEM shape because they are the same shape as the bumper cut out. But what I don't like is that they are so big you therefore have to see all the deposit build up on the inside of them. They just look tatty.
Hi just to make sure - you know there are 2 types of tips for the 997TT? the std stainless steel ones which I had at first and I agree just looked a mess after a while or the chrome ones which I bought on ebay. They look a lot better and I found with the finest wire wool and a decent metal polish they came up very well indeed..just a thought.avaF1 said:

I would think in this case it makes zero difference..the payout on a claim with a car with different tailpipes would be mimimal..its when you go down the route of putting something like an Akrapovic complete system on..they are obviously lots of cash and unless you added that then they would certainly not take that into account if there was a claim - especially if they also considered it a performance enhancing upgrade too.It doesn't affect performance yet is a change to what came from the factory...aesthetically at least

Interesting. So had you installed DesignTek/Dansk/FabSpeed/Cargraphic/etc. tail pipes you would answer 'NO' to the common insurance company question: does your car have any modifications? BTW am not referring to the difference in a payout on a claim with a car with different tailpipes (which you suggest would be minimal)...but rather voiding the insurance altogether!
I get what you saying totally but I think when it comes down to it, if you spend a lot of cash on modifications then I agree you probably should let the insurance company know. When I had my turbo over the last couple of years of ownership, I swapped a lot of the 'plastic' interior parts for Porsche carbon ones I picked up here and there. Now I know that at full list all these items would of come to well over £3k. If it ever came to the car being stolen and or written off insurance company would of paid me probably the lowest price where a 997 turbo would of traded and lets be honest in the classifieds a car with a bit better spec doesn't trade massively over one that doesn't. Although I imagine some insurance assessors are quite thorough I cant imagine they would say hmmm hang on those exhaust tips dont look like the original Porsche ones to me we are not paying.

Personally I think it's in the balance, can see it going both ways. Anyway, won't derail this thread. OP let us know which ones you go for.
Ok thanks for the opinions offered. The twin square oem tips have just been ordered. I agree the round tips don't sit right in the cut out and I figured that the square MK2 tips are more up to date whilst also offering a little more design than just a giant gaping hole Before and after photos to follow!
