Just the warped way my mind works, BUT, if it is promoting something could it be that in Spain you can bang the car purchase through a marketing budget and not suffer tax liability on it?

You guess correctly.

The other side of the car was plain so it is the passenger who gets the full impact as they get in.

I wondered if it might be to cover some iffy damage repair the the side but it looked pretty straight, although I couldn't stand to look for too long.
