I've paid more for an exhaust on other cars. Seemed ok to me.

And then you'll also need the Sharkwerks bypass pipe @ £699 to make the 997.2 PSE sound like it should in the first place!!!

I paid £2400 inc and that was an OPC.
Not cheap is it....!
No, I have to agree. I don't need extra exhaust noise that much, That's why I'm looking at Sharkwerks . Now if it were some delivering some extra BHP, give me the PSE you can have my money.

Agreed, hence the original post. You're a quarter of the way to a power upgrade via Techart with that....

When I bought my 997 c4 I was so disappointed with the sound it made, I think porsche in my opinion made a very drastic mistake not making a PSE standard. I went to some independent porsche garages and got quotes and then went to Leeds porsche and they matched the price. I would recommend you shop and barter with them and in my case it worked. I was also told that if you fit the sharkwerks bypass, that if you decide the PSE is also needed the centre muffler on the PSE can be realistically removed from that £2k bill.

I do think the PSE is a must have on 997's. The car is a wonderful feedback machine and yet missing a vital element to make it perfect. It literally doubled my enjoyment and therefor totally essential.

I'll do a before and after for those debating the sharkwerks solution.

Most eagerly awaited video since the Mclaren P1 Nurburgring lap.....

And we've just had another batch of 5 x Sharkwerks systems arrive in the UK ;-)

A 991 Targa drove past me last night....sounded unbelievable. Listening to the vids I wonder if it was a Sharwerks kit....had quite a deep rumble on pull away from standing and sounded mental when giving it gas!

Probably just the normal PSE. The new Boxsters and Caymans also sound incredible, with a real supercar shriek at the top end. It's a very well designed and kind of defeats the point of aftermarket system. However, there is a lot to be desired from the 997 set up, sadly...

You don't need one. Mine took a few days to bed in but now it makes a really nice noise. I still want mine louder, but there's only so much you can expect from a centre section. If you really nail it though, there is a very noticeable difference. Pottering around, it is exactly the same as OEM.

They are queueing up for a video of how the sharkwerks bypass pipe sounds on a non-PSE 997.2 as this hasn't yet been established. Plenty of great positive feedback on PSE equipped cars.

Out of interest, does anyone know what the DB level is for the Sharkwerkes if you dont have the loud button on in the GT3?
997 or 991 GT3?

I can ask the guys at Sharkwerks if need be. On the 991 GT3 its only marginally louder than the stock system without the valves open - certainly not an issue for most track days. The same can't be said for the Sharkwerks once you open the valves as it sounds glorious and may upset a few noise marshall's!

Chris
Cool... will get round to ordering one then (991).

I can confirm in the morning but I'm 99% sure we have 1 x 991 GT3 Sharkwerks bypass just arrived into stock with a batch of 997.2 systems. Shall I let you know in the morning?

Slightly off topic and unlike the exhaust upgrades these won't make your 911 sound any better but we've just had these items of Sharkwerks clothing arrive into stock... Quite a few of you who purchased the Sharkwerks systems asked me to let you know when these arrived so they are here!

Hoodies available in 'Shark Grey' or '4.1 Blue', these are top quality with full zip up front, Sharkwerks logo printed on sleeves and image on back. Very nice material and very warm!

And these 'Shark Grey' T-Shirts with printed chest and back. Again top quality and full range of sizes...

So finally got some time with help to get under my 997 C2 2011 non PSE. Full of confidence and armed to the teeth with 13mm half moon spammers etc. What we found were some very degraded nuts and bolts. My car has 35,000 miles on but Jesus they are bad, so bad in fact that trying to get the 3 x 13mm nuts of the side cats was impossible. First one just sheeted straight off and trying to get the remaining bolt through the back was also without luck. Even heating them didn't solve it. The 3rd and highest bolt, after inspection was smaller than 13mm and more like 11mm. That's how rusted and degraded they are, trying to get any leverage on the most difficult one was impossible. I would image the rear bumper may need to come off to get better access and force.

So a bit fruitless and possibly beyond my tool kit.

Can some confirm that when the nut is removed from the 3 bolt holding the centre muffler to the side cats, that they should push through? We could see a small amount of bolt pushing through at the rear? Perfect day for it, but that 3rd and hard to reach one stopped us as we could gaurantee we could remove it.

Presumably these bolts cant be cut out and replaced? Maybe others can assist on this thread...

Yes they can. Simply heat up the OE rusty studs coming out of the Cats, knock them out and replace with the new stainless steel bolts & nuts that ABP supply in our additional fitting kit specifically to the UK market ;-)

My car is a very clean 14,000 mile GTS but the exhaust nuts looked as if they had been recovered from the Mary Rose before I installed my sharkwerks. I think Porsche use cheese to manufacture the OEM nuts and bolts....
