997.2 Exhaust Upgrades - Analysis/Options
Discussion
There's a definite wif of old cream cheese bagel under my 997. I've got some bolt removing sockets on the way. The thing that stopped us was that 3rd and higher nut. The half moon spanner didn't grab the nut, so it all stopped there. Hopefully I can grab it with these sockets. The thread on most of the bolts had completely gone. Will be trying again next weekend.

My 19,000 mile GTS had nuts which resembled something recovered from the Titanic when we fitted the 1st Sharkwerks exhaust upgrade. That's why we include the additional fitting instructions for UK cars along with the new stainless steel bolts etc. The top nut (of the 3) is the most difficult to get at and takes some perseverance...Douse it with WD40 this week and best of luck next weekend!

Sports and Classic did mine.
At 47k miles my car is probably as bad as they are going to get.
We had to heat up and chisel off all 6 manifold nuts.
The studs you just heat up and hammer back through the flange. Then replace with new bolts.
Don't forget you will need new gaskets too.
They actually had a specially bent crescent spanner to do the upper, difficult to get to, flange nut. Very handy.
All work was done with the rear PU on the car.

That's a hard one to ask as different people will view a certain loudness of exhaust as just right, too loud or too quiet. I would suggest a staged approach on changing bits one by one although I personally don't like the idea of modding exsisting exhaust unless I have a spare so that it can always be returned to standard. Particularly on £40k plus car.

Has anyone fitted the sharkwerks bypass pipes too a 997.2 with the gundo hack?
I don't have PSE but would like a little improvement in the exhaust note, I know the pipes don't make as big a difference just on their own but I'm worried it might be too much with the gundo hack.
Was under the impression the gundo hack made bugger all difference to the 997.2.I don't have PSE but would like a little improvement in the exhaust note, I know the pipes don't make as big a difference just on their own but I'm worried it might be too much with the gundo hack.

Just put a deposit down on a 997.2 with PSE and interested in the Sharkwerk bypass. I know it increases peak power but does anyone have before/after power and torque curves they could upload here ?
Obviously happy with a power hike but not if it's at the expense at lower revs.
There's a before/after dyno plot on Sharkwerks site. No loss anywhere in the rpm band, increasing improvement as the revs rise (as you'd expect - there's more improvement where the standard rear silencer is most restrictive). In practice, there's very little noticeable difference: perhaps a tiny bit more urge above 4500rpm and the power doesn't fall away quite as sharply above 6500rpm, but it's very marginal. (Comments apply to standard 997S.2 engine, not X-51).Obviously happy with a power hike but not if it's at the expense at lower revs.
As correctly stated above, the big difference is the sound.

Hi Chris, do you still have any in stock?
Does anyone know if there are any issues with Porsche warranty, currently or extending it further with aftermarket exhausts?
Thanks
Jon

Yes we do (1 left from memory) but we have 5 more arriving early next week too!
I've had some warranty work carried out on my GTS with the exhaust fitted no problem but when it comes to extending the warranty (dependent on the relationship you have with your OPC) you may well have to temporarily refit the OE silencer back in place for the inspection.
