Chris any idea what the sound improvement is when PSE not fitted? Does anyone have a pre and post comparison?

We have sold quite a few to non PSE 997.2 owners but always mail order so I have no personal experience of the sound improvements. There are people who have posted on this thread who have purchased them but I've never seen any comparison videos yet...

Ultimately its going to sound better as you are removing a restrictive (flow & sound) central silencer and replacing it with a straight through x-pipe which has no restrictions or silencing.

Sharkwerks bypass is not an x pipe.

OK Chris, I'll bite.
I have today fitted the Sharkwerks bypass, you supplied a couple of days ago, to my non PSE 997.2 C2s. I have done a "before" video to try to capture the sound and will do another tomorrow, or when the weather brightens up for the "after" sound. I will say, on start up and driving the couple of miles home from garage it did sound better to me but didn't have chance to get the car warmed up, I can only describe it as the car sounds to be breathing better. If anyone interested is near South Yorkshire they are welcome to come round and have a listen.

Out of interest I tried to get the car Dyno'd for a before and after on the power but the engine management system/ABS will not let you run the car without the front wheels turning, apparently you need a rolling road with linked rollers and there is not one in the area.
Regards John

Just want to add that I took my GTS (standard PSE system) with SharkWerks bypass installed to Bedford Autodrome on Friday for the Evo track evening.

They seem to have abandoned the static test there now and go purely on the drive-by.

I did a couple of sesssions with the exhaust in quiet mode and then got a bit brave and started switching it into loud mode.

No issues tripping the drive-by meters at all.

Very! It is perfectly quiet (inside) at normal road speeds in quiet mode and sounds fantastically raucus in loud mode. Actually very surprised it passed the drive-by noise limit at Bedford.

For the money it is a great aftermarket upgrade.

Also have to say the TCP Racing PASM module is awesome.

I think there would be a lot of people here interested in seeing your before and after videos, how are your thoughts now? I've held back given my car is non-PSE.

That's good to know Jack. Out of interest what was the db limit on the Bedford Evo track evening?

Hi John

Glad you got it all fitted ok. Looking forward to your before & after videos as there seems to be a lot of interest in these 997.2 bypass pipes for non PSE cars...

Was our additional UK fitting kit useful on your car?

What's the best, cost-effective and warranty friendly solution for improving the exhaust note on a 997.2 PDK Turbo? The Europipe exhaust looks good but a bit pricey so hoping there is a cheaper solution in the interim?

What year 997.2 Turbo do you have?

The Sharkwerks is available for 2010 onwards cars...

Thanks - It's a 2010 '10' reg. I wouldn't be able to fit myself but should be pretty straightforward for a local mechanic presumably?

This will fit a 2010 car so provided you like the sound all is good!

Any competent local garage should be able to install and the installation time from Sharkwerks experience on the 997.2 Turbo is around 4 hours.

We are Europe's largest importer of Sharkwerks and can save you money as opposed to buying direct ;-)

Hi Chris
The fitting kit a must, every bolt on the cat flanges snapped like a carrot, and that was after soaking them with WD morning and evening from Tuesday to Saturday. The top bolt is a dog to get to, there was some blood and swearing when they cracked. All said the pipe is a near perfect fit and the stickers even match for my Guards Red car.
I am struggling with the Video I have done before and after cold starts but to me they do not capture the sound difference. Tonight was the first chance to get the car warmed up and use a few revs and it certainly has a more Porsche sound. I will do another video with the car warm and under acceleration. Posting the video is another challenge as YouTube does not accept my cameras format, I'll get there eventually.
