Morning all

Has anyone fitted a set of these to a GT3 and did you notice much of a difference from the standard LCA?

I am getting a lot of squeaking from mine and am thinking of replacing the standard ones with a set of these.

you buy some RSS ones and give me your GT3 ones :-)

I'll test them out on my Spyder and see if they squeak.

Hi We have installed these to 997 GT3 cars and they are beautifully made and re-build able.

You must remember you are taking out the factory compliance with eliminating rubber mountings and once you start you cant stop!

You are now rose jointing the pivot points and solid mounting the thrust arm pick up points so you have created a suspension setup that pivots with no drag and is precise in its change of direction.... you really need to do front and rear lower control arms and also put rear toe link arms on with rose joints as a minimum.
Full corner weight/geometry setup and you will be sorted. Rear dog bone arms would be a nice addition if you could stretch the budget and loose the last bit of rubber bushes.

What's the rough cost of having all that done Mike?

I have these plus all the control arms changed out as well, as per Mikes description above. Yes there is a difference in the way the car feels and reacts, much tighter and more direct geo set up remains as set when cornering as rubber parts removed. Tyre wear dramatically reduced went from 3-4 TD to 6-7 TD per set of cups.

The down side is a lot more noise is transferred into the car as everything is solid fixed, so if your trying to get rid of a squeak only it may not be the way to go. Exactly how much of that is down to the RSS arms not sure as I did everything in one go.

My car spends most of its live on track so it was the way to go for me, but if your not that way inclined I'd look for an alternative to your squeak.

£3k is cheap to do all the stuff Mike mentions above IMO £4k plus would be closer. Either way speak to Mike at Sports and Classic he has a lot of experience with these types of upgrades as he looks after My car and has done all the upgrades to it.

I have to ask. How do you know the squeak is coming from the LCA? I had a persistent squeak on my car, had the top mounts greased, new LCA fitted, new front coil springs... But squeak remained and it turned out to be worn bushes in the front dampers. Chris and Pete @ Centre Gravity diagnosed and fixed it for me.

I am guessing at the pivot points and the thrust arm bushes as when the car is 'hot' (i.e I have been out for a long drive) and the car is stationary, I can rock the steering wheel from 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock and there is a horrible squeaking rubber sound....like someone is chewing a rubber band.

I figured I may as well go for the RSS LCA and fix them both at the same time.

I have to say that fitting £4k+ worth of links seems somewhat excessive to cure a squeak ! !
Personally I'd get the car into the likes of Miike to establish what's causing the squeak before deciding that fitting any RSS stuff is required.
If the inner bushes on the front coffin arms are the cause (and the car is running split front arms) the replacement inner bush can be replaced easily and cheaply.
Going the RSS route is akin to having a loose exhaust tailpipe trim that rattles, and saying you're considering replacing the complete exhaust ! !
hehe I am not having 4k's worth of stuff fitted, far from it! biggrin

I just thought the thrust arm bushes and the inner bush add up to around £550. As the RSS LCA's are around £700 odd, it would make sense to go for them.

Going to get the car MOT'd at the weekend so I will have a look and see if I can see anything obvious that is causing the squeak.

Cool, good luck. I would suggest dropping Chris a line though and having a quick chat before you spend any money. Your symptoms appear quite similar to mine, I wasted quite a lot of money trying to fix my squeak (actually it was more of a creak but let's not split hairs lol) so would hate for anyone else to do the same unnecessarily.
