Hello All,

I'm the proud new owner of:

996 Turbo S
Coupe
Manual - 6 speed
Black/Black
Sports seats
Factory aero kit
Factory Short/quick shift
Super low mileage

Mike at Sport & Classic in Cheshire, carried out the PPI and has provided me with an excellent service and pointed out some preventative maintence that could be carried out.

He is a true professional and I would recommend him thoroughly!!!

I have a huge smile on my face and in my opinon have a magical dream car (well, dream for me).

Thanks for all the advice over the last few months!!

See you all soon.

IceBoy

PS. Pictures to follow, next week!!

Sounds pretty much perfect. Nice one.

Don't know Mike, but from what I can gather on here, he's a helpful bloke.

Mike is great! Feel really lucky to have him so close to me. Gives added peace of mind that he runs a 996 GT3 so knows these cars literally inside out. Wouldn't trust anyone else with my car.

A Cheshire based friend with a 996 turbo entrusts Mike with all maintenance and repair work and speaks very highly of him.

Pics pls. I reckon you've bought one of Porsches finest moments with that car.

Mike @ sports and classic used to be post on here regularly but is rarely seen now.

Is he too busy or not wants to get involved in the 'tittle tattle' of threadery?

If I were an Indy or a Dealer I wouldn't get involved in the endless idle banter of the minutiae.

Praise where it is due. Mike is a fountain of knowledge and also someone to be trusted.

A rare thing these days.

It's probably a bit of both, but if its the forum crap, I can't say I blame him.
Baz at hartech used to post very detailed technical stuff quite regularly, all based on real-world knowledge from working so closely with Porsches and their engines, but there was occaisionally some snidey posts made, and now he doesn't post very often.
Real shame, as any discussion that followed was usually decent level technical stuff.

I currently used Mike at Sports and Classic and have used Hartech in the past. I rate them both and would not hesitate to use either of them again. Both have contributed to this forum to the benefit of Ph members. Personally, I don't care if they had a spat with another trader on here as it doesn't alter the fact that they are amongst the best in their profession.

I know nothing about the discussion you're talking about it but I do know that Mike is very very busy at the moment (I pass by a few times some days, and pop in too now & then), which may explain why he's not posted much. Although to be fair he did have a day off a couple of weeks ago, when I instructed him in his GT3 around Silverstone. It goes very well indeed too, he's done a great job of it.

When I was in the passenger seat we made a rather deft pirouette across the run-off at Copse! smile But, by Christ that thing went round the other corners at an alarming speed.

Mike is a top bloke and excellent mechanic as are his crew. I've been going to him for 8 years and is always my first choice if he can fit me in. He's even helped me when it's been of no financial gain to him (advice etc) so nothing but good words to say about him.

Hmm, looks like the rather negative post regarding hearsay of soandso said what about soandso has been removed - probably a good thing really (although perhaps an apology might have been an alternative).

Almost as good a job as he's done on the white GT3 that was there on the day, which he also maintains. It was good to see you all at Silverstone. Till next time, how about Oulton Park on the 18th Oct?

Looks mint, are all the rear seats like that on 996 turbos?

Benny, the seats in the rear are the same as the 996 turbo.
