996 turbo on the up

Sweet 996 turbo for sale. Looks tremendous value too against 993 turbo. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

4 service stamps!! I know it's only done 14k but an 02 car should have been serviced more than that. I'm sure it's lovely and looks nice with the aerokit, but £55k is high end Gen1 997tt money.... I know which I'd rather have.
I have a gen 1 997t and love it to bits. The 996t is superior in quite a few departments though. the 4wd system is more predictable than the 997 and feels rwd most of the time. The conventional turbos are less problematic than VTGs on 997 and the 996 steering is also better. The interior is not as good but thats about it. Looks wise I think they both look superb. 996t looks brill in silver.IMI A said:

About as objective a comparison as I've read from a 997tt owner ! IMI A said:

It's horses for courses with our cars. Some like the 996 some like the 997. Having driven both I'm glad I went for a 997. Less lag more power more powerful brakes and the front end bob is less on the 997's I have driven. Still both great cars but £50+ for a 996 Turbo seems unlikely. Still hope they are on the up as 997 Turbo prices will be pushed up too and I may just have brought at the right time but I'm not holding my breath. Matt Seabrook said:

Its the 996 turbo that remains the stand out version of all the 911 turbo for many different reasons, it blew the minds of the press and made a huge impact when it was first released and pretty much ALL journalists still prefer the 996t to 997t for a variety of reasons. The 997t is more modern and a lovely albeit more muted car but its the 996t that will have more of a long term status and value for well maintained low mileage examples. It most probably won't reach 993t levels (even though the 996t is a vastly superior drive in every sense) but watch out for a gradual rise.
Totally agree with the last post, it was mentioned in one of the Pork mags also about it been the next one to rise.
I still think its the best Turbo, not photogenic but loads of presence when you see one on the road and still to the novice a 100k Porsche.
Mate of mine has a 550-600BHP 6T and there is no lag, had the brakes beefed up and a pipe and it is stupendous fabulous cars and far superior to a 993 turbo, the professional motor writers at the time said it was on the next page in every department, the only reasons the values are low is down to supply and demand, mark my words watch the values.
