What ever is going on in the classifieds! Do dealers think pistonheads decides the market values on cgt,or do they think active pistonheaders are stupid and will pay anything for a car.
Dealers advertising as private, crazy prices, under offer etc,
2 cars ex damaged cars at nuts prices,i suppose they now look cheap compared to some other silly prices being advertised.

I'm glad someone else thinks the same as I do. I would be interested in the actual prices these change hands for now. I would think around 300 to 350, maybe less.

Apparently in the last 5 weeks Edward Lovett has sold 2 silver cars (one car twice so 3 sales) at £400K. His last sale at £400k is the silver with red leather car (I think) now advertised at £445k. From what I can tell the seller has done a 4 year service 4 new tyres and paint shield protection, so spent maybe 16k on it.

Good ones are going up and black UK cars are fetching big money. I know the owner of the 2400 mile black CGT up for £625K and I know what out local OPC offered him for it and what it's gone under offer at, which is very close to it's asking price.

Black UK cars fetch the highest price, yellow cars next then silver.

When the blue 4.0 RS at JZ Machtech went for £350k it was only a matter of time before people woke up to CGT's being very good value at £350K and the price was set to rise which is now happening. It's been a very cheap car (relatively) and I can see non black cars being in the £500K mark over the next 18 months.

Surely CGTs are not price sensitive to colour, especially wrt to black as there are loads of black cars so are hardly rare...? Or they would be far less than most other cars as the car panels come apart pretty neatly so can be properly repainted much more easily and Reading have repainted quite a lot of cars i am given to believe.

Local OPC who bid on friends car said black is apparently the most desirable colour. They likened it to black Enzo's fetching a premium over red ones. UK cars also fetch a premium over European ones although I personally wouldn't pay more for what is essentially the same thing.

Hah, unusual to see an opc talking up the colour of a car they are bidding on... wink

Black enzos are way more rare relative than black cgts which i would reckon are relatively slightly less popular than gt silver? Would have thought roughly half the cars were silver with most of the rest black with a smattering of the other colours.

Agreed, uk cars do seem to be asking for higher prices and given equal history there is no real reason to pay that premium.

It's an international market for these cars. The market will pay what it deems the cars to be worth.

There is a steady stream of US and European cars available for far less than 625. In fact almost half this price. Not sure why UK spec is so sought after.

Conversion to UK spec is only headlights and tail lights. Front bumper as well if you don't like the orange indicators on them.
Ride height is also a touch higher on some US cars but if you are going to use the car this is not a bad thing.

I agree re UK pricing. I think it's just perceived exclusivity from the collectors point of view. If you want to be anal about it there were only 60 odd official UK cars so for a collector this might be attractive.

RE US cars I personally wouldn't go near them for 3 reasons:

1. VAT. You will have to pay an additional 20% on the car when you register it in the UK. EU cars don't have this problem.

2. It's very easy to hide a cars crash history in the US. I don't believe they have a register like we do so cars can end up here without buyers knowing what's happened to them.

3. I think the cost of converting a US spec car to EU spec isn't cheap, and there are quite a few bits to change from what I have been lead to believe.

It is interesting re the sale of these cars. Many of the cars advertised on mobile.de didn't appear to be for sale/exist, sellers either sold months ago or are just claiming to have a car when they do not - all a bit frustrating when you are looking for one!

What finally persuaded me to buy was seeing a 4.0 RS reach c£350k....

Just had first drive with the roof off - what a noise when you step on it!

A bit like some of the UK ones!

Batster I know it's rude to ask but could you give us an indication of the current market. Does the first digit start with a 3 or 4!?

The price deff starts with a 3,nothing wrong with a usa car if you know what you are looking at and good history on the car.
Black has always been a popular colour, but if you buy a oddball colour combo,as in the past very diffcult to move on,if its a keeper it matters none.
How can a dealer advertise as private?
I dont get the uk premium, when they are all lhd drive imports, and makes no differance when driving them.

A proper car starts with a 4, a good car with low miles around 5 and somewhat more for those that have delivery mileage.

You can buy cheaper but there will be a story!!

A few around for less than 4,a 300 miler less than 5.good for business to keep talking them up.
Some cars have been for sale for a age with less than popular interior colours.

I think your right. Higher mileage cars will start with a 3 I also agree with what Yellow491 says about colour combos.
