Around 6/7 years ago i purchased a nice and very rare Porsche 964 3.6 Turbo. There were only 47 right hand drive versions made and i was lucky enough to land one with only 42k miles and FULL Porsche main dealer history. It was pure sex on wheels, those mega wide arches, the hugging seats, the noise and the tasty split rims all made it such a desirable car to own. The driving experience was not great, it was classic old school tech with power delivery that was like a rocket going off within a small power band! Two wheel drive also made you sit up and take note when you were pressing on.

I sold it to a dealer close to me, a very easy transaction and i managed to make around 6k on it at the time (bought for 33k and sold to him for 39k, he banged it up for 45k and sold it to Kurt Gieger). Kurt bought it as a gift for his secretary and she i believe was not a car buff so stored it in an underground car park in London. The car had every bill from new, about 4 inches of paperwork which i'm told she threw out!! She then changed the split rims as the lacquer was pealing (a common issue on those wheels) and skipped them (i know, i know!!) The wheels alone are worth about 8-10k now!!

anyway, to cut a long story short i was speaking to the same dealer i sold the car to about car storage and noticed that he had it back in again. He said he'd just sold it and i asked if he'd mind me asking what he sold it for.......

.........wait for it. £168,000!!! GUTTED is not the word, if there was ever a car i should have held onto it was that one!! The prices have gone crazy!!

Seems odd to buy a 15 year old 911 for someone who isn't into cars, especially if they're in that London. Shame she didn't appreciate it more.

Kurt Geiger owns the shoe store chain I think. Wealthy men have a habit of buying stupid gifts on fit women they are shagging. Remember when Chris Evans bought Billy Piper a brand new 550 Maranello, and she couldn't even drive...

I know how you feel. Back in the mid 90's I had a Turbo Bodied 911 Speedster - one of only 7 manufactured in White for UK. I sold it to purchase my first Boxster for 28K. They are now changing hands in excess of 140K. Still, I have a had a few more Porsches since then which I have enjoyed!

Fantastic car! Completely wish I'd never sold mine. Sold it to a dealer for £36k some years ago when they were somewhat unloved! Won't be making that mistake again with my 997 GT2!

I think most of us have stories like this, mine was a 964RS I nearly bought 7 years ago....

Not many predicted where we are now.

Might as well add my sob sorry . This was my pals car in circa 2005. He got very little interest advertised at £35k . Best trade offer I recall was £28k , which he offered it to me at. I wasn't keen on the colour so bought a 996 GT3 . Bummer ....

It hasn't cost me anything to own my 3 Porsches since then which is great , but would have been nice for this one to pay my mortgage off !

Chap I know had RHD 993RSR (one of 7) and subsequently a RHD 964 Turbo S (1 of 8)

Sold both for well under 100k at the time, not that many years ago.

I would imagine the RSR would be north of 300k and the Turbo S not that far behind.

He also turned down a 993 GT2 at 90k............
