Time of year again to look at 996 GT2 values
Discussion
We know there is very limited supply of the 996 GT2, certainly less than 100 left in the UK and lack of critical mass of cars to choose from has an impact as potential buyers end up buying different cars, question is what motivates a buyer to look for and choose one as this causes prices to rise or fall, Porsche has other great models in competition, namely the GT3 but both hard to find at the 50-60k price bracket. Why do people spend this sum on a 10-12 year old Track car? The reason to buy cars like this changes as cars get older and rarer.
Unlike previous owners of my GT2 who bought as it seems it was the latest top end 911 and some to clearly track the car, i consider myself a different type of owner - more of a Porsche enthusiast owner happy to use for weekend blasts and keep in mint condition enjoying rarity.
As the cars get older and enter the begininnings of classic status they will inevitably start to go up in value, much like the 993 Turbo now has. Nostalgia pushes prices up.

I remember a few years ago I had a debate on ph with a person who had a rs4 he said the 996 gt2 values would never increase.....
The gt2 was a similar cost ( I won't say value lol)
Just looked at rs4 values £15,000
Gt2 values are as we know
As house prices rise and people can realise capital cars like the 996 gt2 will increase rapidly in value in my opinion.

Loads of people used to say that, they were all wrong. From when I sold my 996 in 2010 I'd say that it's probably worth 15-20k more now, even with the extra mileage on it.
Now might be the time to readvertise yours?
I've expressed an interest in the GT4 with my local OPC. Depending upon the actual spec (being announced in Feb), I might be considering the sale of mine. Can't afford to keep the two of them. It'll be a tough decision to make that's for sure.

Will Cayman ownership offer you something the GT2 doesn't ? ie more daily driver useability. If not, keep the GT2, you'll not find another car like it. Additionally, in due course the GT2 will become a classic with the attendant increases in value. Sought after Pork is/will be a numbers game, the GT2 has ALL the ingredients to become a very rare classic indeed. I've expressed an interest in the GT4 with my local OPC. It'll solely be a weekend car. As I say, it'll be a tough choice to make. m33ufo said:

You're right....but I just want to see the GT4 first
In 5 years the 6 GT2 may well be a £250k car. Having said that the govt may ban all high performance cars with emissions over a certain level and your Gt2 may become an ornament in your house like a giant vase and who knows may be worth nothing. Don't even bother looking at the GT4. For dd perhaps the solution is to get yourself down to VW and buy a VW Polo 1.2 SE DSG 5 dr. List £16,100 and I managed to deal at £13,750 on a new car a few days ago. 70 Miles to the gallon and you can use the GT2 on high days. In my opinion 996 gt2s are still very much undervalued when you compare them to 993 turbos going for over 100k and 996 gt3rs's going for 150k
When I purchased my gt2 8 years ago the gt3rs and gt2s were the same price ( around 60k ). I drove both and for driving on the road I thought the gt2s savage power put it in a different league.
Having driven quite a few supercars on road and track I can't really think of any cars I would swap mine for under 150k
