The ultimate 911? Certainly the best colour!

6 seconds quicker than a 997GT2 and 997.1 GT3RS.

Enjoy.

Ultimate drivers 911?

I guess you are in a better position than most of us to judge! thumbup

With several 997 GT3's in the garage, what do you think? Which GT3 in your garage would you take for a Sunday morning blast into Wales?

Just so fecking chuffed that I own one! smokin Only done 800 miles so far, car is awesome. Someone described a 991 GT3 as a weapon, I feel that sums it up. I am a very lucky man. Nice to find a great new video as I have watched all the others countless times.

Where do you get the 6 seconds data from? As it's only 17secs quicker than the 7.1RS round the Ring, I doubt it can pull 6 over such a short track... Happy to be corrected though. smile

It is a lovely colour, however real drivers use a clutch! biggrin

Either of the 997s. Better steering feel and a manual gear change. They also sound better most of the time.

I must admit I was very surprised. And I know it was a different driver.

Three Porsches at the ring same driver similar conditions similar traffic, never been to willow springs so don't know if it's a short track with plenty of bends or long and fast.
Might be that the 991 is a tad better on tight twisty stuff whereas the gt2 has better torque and is faster on the long runs up to and just over 200 mph gt2 definitely has better 0- 100 times
What a car that 996 is and just overly in yellow or red

0-100 times are virtually identical and in the real world easier to hit in the 991.

Willow doesn't appear to be too twisty

Hi Kul, parting with the Aston was a bit of a wrench. Then having 3 months wait for the GT3 was a bit of a pain. Though I realise people have waited so very much longer. Today I sat behind a V8S in traffic, there is no denying what a fabulous looking thing they are. Aston Martin have been wonderful with us but then so are Porsche! I was not prepared for such a roller coaster of amazing service and hype . Dick Lovett Tewksbury my heartfelt thanks. Our GT3 is so very sharp, I am amazed! I cannot fault any aspect of the build, the finish. Dear God the thing is so focussed. I have had a play around 7000rpm only briefly cos I am trying to be mechanically sympathetic; so very difficult because it wants to fly. As to when the traction control kicks in I really don't know because it waggles it's arse like a good un. I love it though I admit to being in awe of it! Suits me just fine !!! smokin

Check out the extensive technical deep dive on the 991 GT3 by Carlos as part of his Let's Geek Out series.

http://youtu.be/apjC960P3LI

I haven't watched it myself yet - but his previous episodes on this series on the 918, P1, LaFerrari, M3/M4 and others have been brilliant. Just make sure you have about about hour to spare!!

My view on the 991 GT3 - besides the dream of a 997 GT2 RS - its the only 911 I'd get back into atm. They are immense on the move.

Is this what its come to now,the ultimate car is a quick automatic.
Why does every vid i have seen so far on this car, they drive in auto, not even to use the flappies.
Are they frightened to rev it to the shift light themselfs, incase it goes bang!

therein lies the rub.

I do/intend to do loads of track days in my caged out BMW CSL. I'm no driving god, just like to enjoy myself and push safely.

whilst i had started from a 6speed manual, the paddle shifter just allows you to focus more on the corners and getting the most out of them. No doubt, rowing a box, heel and toe sequentially down the box is tremendous fun too but i no longer think that you can't enjoy the track experience with paddles. Speed is speed and going fast is always exciting.

On the road however, i actually think having a manual is much better (provided you are not stuck in london traffic and giving your left calf a proper workout in Gt3s). The interaction is less frantic and you can savour each executed gear change and enjoy the sensation of driving the car at less than all out attack. Let's face it, one can always heel toe better and shift faster. It's just possible to continuously improve.

so, whilst i started from no way, I'm now thinking it'll make a fab toy when the guys that are not tracking them give it up for the next greatest thing in a couple of years. Just like my cal, sucks as a daily driver but special on track.
