Know this is a bit of an old thread now but I'm taking off the DesignTek system on my 996 3.4, a bit too loud for me.

Quick look around and EuroCar Parts seem a pretty good price for the Dansk kit at £561 so suspect that's going to be my choice.

How is the dansk kit in comparison to the (1) the standard car and (2) pse?

There's 2 versions, one slightly louder than stock and one very loud. Not for me though, not a very Porsche-y sound.

What option did you go for, just looked on his website & it looks like there are a number of options?

Carnewal GT is the OEM mufflers which he's modded to emulate the PSE (but without the switch obviously). He said he doesn't do the upgrade route any more because almost all of the stock boxes crack on the seams. But he did have some pretty new take offs modded to Carnewal GT for €950 which is what I went for. I'm very happy with the sound, not as good as PSE obviously but I don't think anything betters it for the price. Will try and make a vid soon...

The other ones are just new sets of OEM or aftermarket boxes.

This is a Video of my newly fitted Dansk Sport Silencers.

They sound quite nice at high revs but otherwise there is very little difference in sound between these and the standard silencers.

Don't want to upset you Roberty , but the Dansk boxes you have got are just a replacement for your OE ones so they will just sound the same as stock, i have the dansk sport which sounds a bit louder than stock which i am happy with, then there is the super sound dansk which i have been told is a bit to loud.

They do the OEM replacement in Standard and Sport. This is the OEM Sport.

They also do a Sport Sound and a Sport Super Sound. Perhaps yours is the Sport Sound which is a physically smaller box, the sport super sound is like the Porsche PSE with a valved bypass.

See here: DANSK Range

Mine is this model:

EXHAUST MUFFLER / SILENCER SPORT OE STYLE. PORSCHE 996
Code: 99622096330S
Replacement Rear sport exhaust set OE style. Polished stainless steel. With TUV/EEC approval.

Made by DANSK

Fits:
Porsche 996 C2 / C4 / C4S 1997-05

This super sound one is probably uses a bigger bypass than the official PSE (which uses a 1" pipe IIRC)

I have today taken off the Dansk OEM Sport silencers and put the originals back on.

They never did get any louder, sounded much the same as the originals.

The old boxes are only back on temporarily whilst I get the DANSK boxes modified with a Gundo hack.

Using 2" stainless tube so it could be proper loud, little worried I'm going from far too quiet to far too loud!

Time will tell

I'd recommend 1.75".
(I think the 2" is too loud, and you certainly won't think the 1.75 is too quiet)

Ah, it's not too late but the boxes are off, the tube has been bought and fabrication is underway and the welder is booked for Tuesday.

I could restrict the size of holes I cut in the box and the exit pipe to 1.75" if that might help?

There's a Gemballa one finishing soon on eBay, has anybody got any experience of these? Worth bidding on? If so, how much to bid?

The corner to outlet pipe mod you have had done may not work on those boxes. It works on the standard 3.6 boxes, but not on the 3.4 boxes (apparently) due to a different internal layout. The corner 'nipple' on your boxes, before cutting them, was visually the same as the 3.4 boxes and different to the nipple on the 3.6 boxes which is more of a recessed cap.

I have the same dansk sport boxes as you and also found them too quiet, so I have had the inlet to outlet mod and am really pleased with the result.

When people on here talk about 1.5 inch or 2 inch pipes many of them will be referring to the inlet/outlet mod rather than the corner pipe mod. You cannot compare the sizes directly as I understand the Porsche 3.4 PSE used a 1.25 inch pipe inlet/outlet whilst the 3.6 PSE used a 2 or 2.25 inch pipe from the corner and yet had a similar sound.

Mine is a 3.6 but I believe the 3.4 and 3.6 boxes are the same.

The internal layout of the DANSK OEM is identical to the standard boxes.

The DANSK came with a leaflet which has a diagram showing the internal layout of the boxes so I knew it was the same before chopping them up.

Fitted them tonight and have run it on the driveway and it sounds much deeper, not overly loud but I wasn't revving it.

Will see / hear what it's really like on the run to work in the morning.

Here is a pic of the Dansk sport exhausts before any modification:

Here for comparison are standard 3.6 boxes, note the cap in the corner:

And here are standard 3.4 boxes, note the corner design is very similar to the Dansk sport exhausts. These boxes have also been modified with the inlet to outlet bypass pipe:

Yep I see the difference in the end cap designs but I believe what is under the cap is the same.

I did the fabrication work myself and I knew what I was expecting to see when I cut the cap off. The 2" tube joins the second chamber of the silencer to the outlet bypassing the third and final chamber.

Is the Inlet outlet mod in your last picture on your boxes? If so how do you find it, loud?
