Yes Jack and its now back with me and all sorted!

Chester collected my car from work and gave me a new 991 cab on Wednesday morning. They were keen to check over their work on the electrical side to see if anything could have caused my battery issue (they fixed a faulty boot light and sticking horn push). They carried out various drain checks and couldn't find any issues at all and it was concluded that the 4 year old Porsche battery needed replacing. As I had put a new Bosch S5 in the boot incase it was the battery Chester OPC agreed to fit it for me. This is a far better option than the overpriced and poor quality genuine Porsche battery!

After fitting my battery the car was delivered back to my work on Thursday late afternoon with a no charge invoice! Whilst this was a pleasant surprise (especially the fact that the OPC fitted a non genuine battery for me!) the fact of the matter was I had experienced no battery issues whatsoever before it went in for the service and was placed on charge whilst being worked on... I appreciate batteries can fail at anytime and now I have the peace of mind of a new quality 5 year Bosch battery being fitted.

And they fixed my smearing window issue with a new inner sealing strip that so far seems to have done the trick!

Overall a very positive 1st experience of a Porsche OPC so big thumbs up to Porsche Chester.

I'd be interested to se if your windows remain streak-free after a couple of weeks in wet weather. Let us know!

Mine do the streaking and also reverse in the middle of going up, from time to time. They haven't managed to eliminate that yet. I'll watch this with interest.

Do you still have the Porsche warranty? My GTS' battery has lost strength this winter, and I suspect Porsche will insist I put another chocolate one in if I want to renew the warranty. I'm hoping I can put a Bosch one in, and some common sense will prevail.

I'm glad you had a positive experience.

As for me, well I finally got a response from my complaint after prompting them. The after sales manager glossed over my significant grievances (probably because they are indefensible) and only gave me an answer to a minor observation I made.

Then he offered me 16% discount on a particular piece of work which I declined because it's not enough given the circumstances and he basically said ok bye.

Fantastic...
How can the OPC experience be so different from one customer to the next??? I really don't understand the lack of consistency...

What were your problems / complaints Pete?
I visited them on numerous times in short succession and each time I came away disappointed.

Booked it in for some simple issues which they repeatedly failed to fix although Wilmslow got it right first time and without having to be prompted. They also broke my satnav/pcm/dash/cruise control and it took them 2 visits to undo this.

I also made a booking to retrofit sport mode and when but when I came to collect the car they hadnt done it because my car is a gen 2 car and gen 2 cars can't have sport mode...apparently.

They also tried to bill me over £1100 for new dampers because of some surface rust, I am not joking.

In the end I complained but that was no good either, I found the after sales managers words and tone to be incongruent and insincere (never mind not actually explaining or apologising for anything).

Utterly appalling experience.

I'm not the only one who thinks they are ste.

Yes I still have 1 year of the extended warranty left so I was pleasantly surprised the dealers agreed to fit my (far superior) Bosch S5 battery instead of one of their inferior and stupidly expensive units. If I choose to extend the warranty next March I'm sure they might have the typically archaic attitude that it needs to have a Porsche battery fitted so I have kept the original battery that I could always fully charge prior to the inspection and extend the warranty before refitting my Bosch!

Not surprised you are left so disappointed after your experience and I just can't understand how an OPC can have such varying levels of service. Wouldn't happen in my business and that's for sure!

Hi Laura

Nice of you to say hi!

This forum is great as for every OPC hater there are at least 5 others who love you! I went with Chester as they were a lot more precise at my point of initial enquiry.

Hey Jack, you will be pleased to know that the seal which OPC Chester replaced on the inside of my drivers window has worked and is now 100% smear free!

You guys had me thinking it was an 911 disease with no known cure so a top result indeed!
