Hi guys,
I bought my c4s back in aug and compromised on the pse as I found a car with pccb's which looked the business. I have costed up retro fitting a pse with an OPC as car is under warranty but the cost is close to 3k.
My car has done 45k miles and I've offered a 2nd pse off a car that's done 20k miles. I'd obviously have the labour costs but is this something you would consider doing?
I would plan on getting it refurb end first then fitted by an opc.

If you have it connected to the center console switch, then the OPC will charge 8 hrs.

When you install the PSE with a toggle switch, the whole installation takes 3 hrs.

I would get a Porsche specialist to fit it, modifying the PSE to have valves open all the time. I have PSE and Sharkwerks and the exhaust button gets pushed as soon as i get into the car. It is not obtrusive or anti-social at all; in quiet mode it is like driving a Prius (imagine you already know what this is like being sans PSE!).

My Gen 2 PSE was about £2.4 and I thought Gen 1 was more like £1900 inc, fitted.

That said, I'd say used is fine. They hardly come up for sale. Grab it if the price is right.

If you just want it on all the time and dont have the switch you can buy the parts on ebay for very little.

I'd check if the warranty will still be valid if you get used parts that the car wasn't built with fitted to it.

Thanks guys. I've got hold of quite a few extra pics and sent them over to mike @ sports and classic. He's pricing up the job so is looking promising. My Porsche warranty is up for renewal in March so am planning on getting the PSE on, using all OE parts, then getting reassessed with 111 point check for extension.
Can anyone here see an issue with this. Will the OPC know via some central system that the exhaust was not fitted at an OPC or will they validate that all parts are OE and in full working order?
FYI my warranty is already fully paid for another 20 odd months.

I can't see it being any problem.

It's more a case of if there's no proof that it was fitted at an OPC it's reasonable for them to assume it wasn't. What's your plan if they ask you - just to lie? I have no doubt the job will be done properly by Mike but if Porsche warranty are later faced with a £15k bill for engine failure don't be surprised if they scrutinise things at which point it sounds like it'll be fingers crossed time.

Gibbo's car had been worked on by Mike. He fitted Porsche upgrades that were not on the car originally. Porsche were quite happy to warranty that afterwards. It went right to Porsche UK as I recall, because someone saw it on here and contacted them.

Do you mean someone effectively grassed him up? It doesn't surprise me if that's the case actually. I suppose regarding the warranty there's a difference between getting away with getting a car put on cover and fully declaring everything and them accepting it. The bigger the claim the more likely you'll get found out for the former and wish you'd done the latter.

It certainly looked like that, yes, a snitch.

Regarding warranty, it is true that they decline to renew on cars that don't have the correct Porsche bits. Whether they have ever used this as grounds to decline any claims I remain unconvinced.
