Hi, Mine is insured for £60K GT3 CS

Think these will hit £100K in future.

I agree...recognition of the great driving experience, current price point, and lack of supply is likely to make it so.

Unfortunately, that is not all welcome as it would also start to dissapear from the usual pitlanes.
Happening already as values climb e.g. almost 200 991 GT3's in the UK - how many have you seen on track? A handful?

Contrast this with when 996/997 GT3's were new.

I have a 2005 mk2 clubsport. Only 19k miles, totally original, 3 0wners and with every invoice from new, no track work and always serviced at same OPC. Worth keeping or how much is it worth? Stewy49

For god's sake take it on track at least once man, so you have a real idea of what it can do! Then you can sell it smile

Keep thinking of selling but what do you replace it with? Also got my senior citizen's bus pass. Take the point about no track work but got some great driving roads here in Northumberland!

This^^, but also claymores across the start-finish line, it's MSV's main fixed cost when running TDs

Normally I would say that is inexcusable but as you are a pensioner it is probably best kept on road but should still be used. It is a bit like a Mona Lisa locked in a cupboard and rarely if at all seen.

That is the saddest thing about these silly prices. The cars are becoming garage queens and not track tools.

Great shame.

Even better to go stick it to the cocky young 'uns on track! smile I *almost* talked my 80 year old uncle into buying a 360 Modena a few years ago as he was a proper petrol head (used to drive from Tuscany to Berlin every now and then on a Friday (all in one day!) to spend the weekend with friends up there, then come back on the Monday hehe Age is no excuse! nono

Think I spoke to a dealer in the North East (Peter) about your car 2 yrs ago, he thought he might be able to convince you to sell at the time ?

That's the car and the Peter. And he couldn't convince me. Car isn't stuck in garage though - used regularly. Don't like the idea of depreciation on things like Cayman GTS. Must decide!

Agree to some extent, but this actually started to turn a little with the 997.2s. They had been in circulation for over a year before I started seeing many on track and to be honest the non-RS 997 3.8 remains a fairly unusual sight other than at the 'ring (I am usually the only one or one of a couple when I track mine). There were only a couple or 3 years where 997.1 RSs were a generally expected sight too I reckon. But the 996 vintage (all - gen 1, 2 and RS) were all pretty ubiquitous back in the day, and only the gen 1s are starting to recede so far in my experience. I am expecting that the 3.8RS will start to become somewhat less common on track days this year due to the spiralling value as well, but we shall see with that.

The 991 will be interesting - very few were bought by track day regulars in the UK, so if they do start to show up regularly this year then it will largely be down to new blood. I've yet to see more than a couple on a TD at the same time thus far, and in perspective the 996 GT3s attending have exceeded 20 at many events that I have driven at...

"What do you replace it with?"

This is exactly why I've turned down two very good offers for mine in the last 12 months. Apart from the fact I love it to bits, I had always planned to upgrade to an RS but the prices of those have put a stop to that for now biggrin

On the basis that one of the 3 or 4 specialists that does the most trade in these every year reckoned mine was £58, a speed yello 23k mile every invoice standard- but comfort- car, I would say you are in mid £60's given CS model appears to attract a premium.

They are like rocking horse poo, so I think that any decent GT3 has a fair amount of price elasticity - if someone wants it, £5K or £10K will probably not make much difference...

Has Rallyeman's 996 GT3 MkII £64,000 one been sold then? Surely that will be an additional indicator of where we are and where things are going.
