So our GT3 is a Comfort. Actually think the seats are fantastic, but admittedly if i ordered the car myself (it was a cancelled order), i would have gone for the Clubsport.

I have spoken to the OPC and they say I cannot retrofit the Clubsport cage... or at least order it. Is this a normal thing, or do you think it is just not available on their system yet?

I have got a discount on a spare set of wheels but at £6k I was wondering on what alternatives are out there on the market? I like the Cup car wheels; they look like BBS FIs but appear to be 19" which could be an issue with the PCCBs.

On the PCCBs note, i love them but have read threads about them being a bad choice for track driving. Has this improved for the 991? Any guidance on what i should do not be shelling out thousands after one track day would be appreciated biggrin

Porsche have started to get sniffy about non-clubsport cars having the cage retro fitted. Not sure if it's just them being awkward, or whether there's an issue regarding legislation with retro fitted cages.

If you can find someone willing to give you their clubsport chassis number, you'll be half way towards procuring a cage wink The next bit is trickier, your dealer will be asked by Reading/Stuttgart for an image of the "damaged" cage you want to replace ......

PCCB's will be fine for one trackday, get them up to temperature gently, don't do long sessions, and do at least two cooling down laps. Also ensure the pads have plenty of meat on them, at the very minimum 50% worn, but preferably less.

As I understand it the Cup car uses proper Motorsport centre lock hubs/mechanisms, not the toytown items fitted to the road car. If you want to run the Cup BBS items, you'll be spending some serious wonga on hubs etc..........

Aren't there implications with having side airbags in the comfort seats on a non-clubsport model and then fitting the cage?

Maybe a long shot but pop up a post on PCGB and Rennlist and 911uk etc asking if anyone is in the same but opposite boat - i.e have a clubsport but want the comfort seats.

As I understand it, these cars were/are highly demanded and people bought whichever one was available at the time due to not being able to spec their own.

There may be a swap-deal to be done, you never know!

I suspect the reason is Porsche do not want to run out of parts for bona fide CS cars or have lots of CS/RS wannabes running around.

If you look at the E46 CSL, BMW allowed regular E46 M3 owners to order the CSL parts (esp in the US which I believe did not get the CSL). Therefore BMW have now run out/run low of many CSL components such as the carbon fibre roofs. That is one reason putting me off getting a CSL.

I can see the logic of Porsche doing the same with non CS or non RS cars

I think that was a bit of a tall story about the CSLs. When i had a slight 'incident' at Snett in my CSL it took ages to get spare parts, but only because they are made as a result of demand (and therefore you had to wait for a batch).

I can appreciate any manufacturer would want to maintain exclusivity though; as far as i know if you have a CSL chassis number you can do what you like, and perhaps i can try it with a CS chassis number with Porsche. I'll try and get one!

Otherwise, Tonbridge Porsche has suggested Parr do a similar cage from a company called GMG... never heard of them though.

Thanks for the comments!

As I said, the chassis number is only the first hurdle. My understanding is Reading or Stuttgart will want proof that your "existing" cage is damaged and thus needs replacement. I'd suggest you give Matt at Fearnsport a ring, he maybe able to facilitate the purchase and fitment of a Clubsport cage.

Looks more "Tequipment" than "Clubsport", but I'm sure it would do the job.
