When I got my GT3, I wasn't really fussed either way whether it had buckets or not and wouldn't have paid a premium for one type of seat over another. All I really wanted was steel brakes and comfort spec. I'm curious, how do other people feel?

All depends how you use the car. I do mostly track so clubsport spec a must!

Poll is technically for a comfort spec car - I mostly use mine for hoons and on track so buckets are fine for me with the benefit of hind sight. I wasn't and am still not fussed about the roll cage as it's a bit try hard for my needs. Besides, I could see a time in the future where I was using it as a DD, in which case I'd put seatbelts in the back, put the buckets in storage and buy me some comfy seats smile

I would pay a premium for bucket seats but to be fair, I wouldn't have bought a car with fixed buckets! It was key for me to be able to install seatbelts in the back for occasional trips with child seats installed. As luck would have it, I was able to get a 997.1 with folding buckets so it's the best of both worlds.

I've got the adaptive sport seats in mine and they really are excellent, I don't do track days in the car but do take it touring in Europe.

Personally I really like the look of the 996 club sport interior with the crested nomex seats and cage.

A splash of leather to dash and doors, along with a painted center console. Job done.

on a 996 GT3 I know many A dealer who would not even take in a sports seated car and there have been a few which stuck around,

people got cheap cars though as the 996 buckets were quite cheap to add in if one got the car for £4k less.
these days to add in buckets costs you £6 to £7k

so yes I would pay more to buy a car with bucket seats. Or I should say I will pay going rate for a car which should imo have buckets, so that means would pay way less for a car with out buckets.

you have to remember a lot of cars are on PCP so people buy new buy what they want and resale does not matter, the up in prices has changed this

but 2nd hand imo the market demands buckets for the track style cars, yes you will get posters saying they want sports seats, that always happens.

I would say now the 997 GT3 is a hard sell with sports seats, now the rich move on and buy comfort seats 991 GT3's the "car enthusiast" market wants GT3 with buckets 80% of the time.

Is this the same figures as your £10k GT3 refresh? smile

Personally I'd be happy with comfort seats, makes the car an easier day to day proposition (if thee were any nice ones for sale!).

If I wanted buckets for a track day I'd just fit some recaros for £1500, job done.

That's weird 'mini driver' you're on another thread asking for pics of bucket seats ;-)

I'm on another thread stating I have some bucket seats, therefore if anyone has a GT3 they'd like to sell for £6-7k less than market value due to it's comfy seats I'm ready & waiting.

Format your smilie like this;
wink

A couple of unused Recaro SPGs, not porsche ones. I bought them last January iirc for a project that didn't go ahead (might have been the January before-they're just sitting in bubble wrap in a spare room wardrobe!).

My thinking is for the amount of track days I do now I can easily swap them in and out if needed, they don't take long to fit.

Thing is, if it's so expensive for Porsche buckets why not just buy some Recaros and trim them to match?

This^^ if I didn't have buckets in my car already. If your primary concern is tracking the car, then you should have no probs with fitting non-standard buckets to the vehicle to improve performance, bum feel etc, same logic as those putting after market suspension on to improve handling. Hell, could even save you money if there's genuinely a decent premium for cars with OEM buckets.

+1, I'll be next in line please smile I just had to up the agreed value on my GT3 policy by 5% having only owned it 5 months, so I'll take another even if I have to put up with comfort wink
