So, I have a Red GT3. But am thinking of "Wrapping" it in Matte Silver. (Like the GT2 below). Except I wont have the black bonnet. Just all matte silver. I think it looks the nuts and fancy a change for a year or so. Also, can get it done 3M for just 1,800 quid, which is pretty good.

What we recon?

No worries. That's why I wanted to put it out there.

Just fancied a change of colour. Wondering what to go for. Any ideas?

Our GT3 is Guards Red, was originally planning to go for white. So glad that Molly made me change. In my opinion it looks great plus it seems to generate the Wow factor from other people. Having said that if you want to change your car to matt silver go for it .

It's only a wrap, do it whatever colour you want and make yourself happy smile

When you do a complete Wrap, what happens with all the door shuts, under boot bonnet etc?

most matt wraps I've seen look really horrible. It's a great idea but just looks ste in my view. However as it's just a wrap, if you want it do it!

Mind you £1800 must be a great track day somewhere!

Exactly. It's not permanent.

A decent wrapping company will be able to do all these bits if required but alot of people don't bother getting them done.

In my opinion a 911 doesn't suit matte finishes, those curves should shine!

Red is the best GT3 colour, closely followed by speed yellow.

Ah, but that could be because you've not noticed that the good ones are wraps wink

Some are very good indeed, others less so.

I spoke to my wrapper about a going gulf colours but he said 911's don't wrap well because of the shape and the job would not stand up to scrutiny up close. fine from a few metres away.

A pal of mine had a brand new Range Rover from Revere and it was wrapped matt from new.
It was awful with cuts and joins and little patches to cover up problems that in fact then just highlighted them.

I just wrapped my bonnet matt grey (looks black on car) and that also failed within days and was removed.

But a respray and paintshield will cost, what, £7,000? It will also significantly detract from the car's value and appeal. I'd estimate it'll cost you into 5 figures all told - fine if you can afford it and that's what you want, your choice of course, but mine would be different.

A wrap will cost max £2k, will have a broadly neutral effect on its value (although it's best to photograph the car carefully beforehand to be able to prove the pre-wrap condition) and will actually protect the car in the same way paintshield does, but all over, not just selected areas.

Nonsense. I've seen loads of good wrap jobs on 911's. Yes they're a bit curvy but they're far from the most complicated cars to do.
