A photoshopped wrap of what my car could look like....

Wrap

Think it looks amazing on that shade of blue but ....... I would rather spend the money on a respray and painsheild
But a respray and paintshield will cost, what, £7,000? It will also significantly detract from the car's value and appeal. I'd estimate it'll cost you into 5 figures all told - fine if you can afford it and that's what you want, your choice of course, but mine would be different.

A wrap will cost max £2k, will have a broadly neutral effect on its value (although it's best to photograph the car carefully beforehand to be able to prove the pre-wrap condition) and will actually protect the car in the same way paintshield does, but all over, not just selected areas.
Sorry, what I should have said was a respray of the bumper, bonnet and wings in the original GT Silver and then an application of paint shield to protect it.

The reason for the wrap (which I forgot to mention) was because the front was getting peppered in stone chips and I was tempted to go down the wrap route.

Would love a full colour change respray but like you say, it would cost a lot and may be viewed negatively at resale time.

Your car looks the nuts in red, silver is by far the worst colour for a GT3, they look so bland imo, however, if it makes you happy then why not, Blueprint in Nottingham have a very good reputation

IF you do wrap it, the paint underneath needs to be as close to perfect as possible and with lil to no stone chips otherwise it shows in the wrap.

Have you considered Plasti-koting(?)?

I agree. GT silver looks awesome on a GT3 but I would say that. There's no right or wrong answer on colour, it's all subjective. My view is that any car in matt either wrap or paint in any colour looks 100% cr*p but that's just my opinion.

Some wraps can be awful but if you want the best it has to be Yiannimize Refined. He is trusted by BMW main dealers etc and regularly does Aventadors with full door shuts. Which surely are more difficult than 911's. A lot of the work is tasteless Aventys with Tron lines etc, but it's still objectively a well done wrap.

Personally i'd keep it red, the GT3's look really nice with bright colours IMHO

Viper Green or Riviera Blue... just sayin...
Exactly, if you are going to do it, make a statement but as said it is only a wrap so if it makes you happy. Silver is a bit of a boring every day Porsche colour though.

You can't get a Viper green wrap done unfortunately.

If you do find an exact match let me know and I'll get mine done.

The nearest I could find was this;

Yeah, decided to keep it red. Was a moment of weakness.

There are loads of wrapping places here, Foil a Car, 3M, I was going to go to Limelite International, they use 3M. 1,8 00 quid for full wrap outside in inner bits too. bargain. 80 quid for that rubber spray on wheels to. Might just get the wheels Vintage gold.

So, you have a gorgeous red 997 GT3 and you are thinking of making it a dull grey colour?

And its £1800 to do this.

Its a free country an all, but I would suggest that you need a word with yourself.
