Other than the PCM 3 in black instead of PCM 2 in grey, what other difference is in the cabin?
That whole centre console area as you say, is the biggest difference, but it really freshens up the interior. Some minor differences from memory are a slightly different steering wheel and the 2 might have a bit more alcantara.

A shot taken prior to the OPC's attention. I will not see the results until next week.

The only colour that just does not work on any GT3, black.

Blue is rubbish, totally agree. Red is lush, as are white and yellow.

I am only jesting, I may have had some wine. But its true, I dont like black on any car.

The truth is, that I can only dream of owning a GT3.

I preferred the Gen 1 because it is an easier car to unlock it's true performance from, personally I like the 3.6 unit and think that when compared to all of the 996 and 997 derivatives it represents the best value for money.

This is only a personal opinion and having driven both versions extensively I would say that both cars are so much better than the other vehicles of similar ages in this sector (996 GT3 excluded) that you won't go far wrong with either.

Well I love my gen 2 over the gen 1 I sold to get into it.

The gen 2 feels so much more developed. You really can feel the extra 4 years of development that went into the car, this is the last generation of the 996/7 model after all, so I guess this makes sense.

The car just feels more rounded, more complete. The torque mid-range is nice, however the engine doesn't scream at the top end like the gen1, that's the single biggest negative for me of the 3.8 v's the 3.6. Th gen1 feels naughtier!

The wheels and brakes are lighter on the gen2, and this is the biggest positive for me of the gen2 over the gen1 - it just feels lighter on its toes, better damped, probably more forgiving. The interior is also a step up, esp the PCM, and switches have a higher-end feel. Exterior looks are nicer on the gen2 to my eyes too. The increased downforce is something I havn't tested yet.

All in all, the gen2 is rarer than the gen1, more complete as a package and feels built to a higher standard, IMHO. Although both a amazing cars, truly stunning to drive and own... I only stepped out of the gen1 as I found my dream spec gen2. I didn't get too hung up about my p/x price, as I bought the gen1 at a good price initially and the gen2 I bought truly is stunning! The car to me was probably worth 5% or more than it's market value....
