There's plenty for sale now and have been for a number of weeks.

Have prices now risen to the point people are not so quick to jump on the gt3 band wagon?

10k refreshes coming up I dare say 😀

The 991 gt3 mkt Is looking more saturated id say so that may be having a slight bearing down the curve

Just look at the glut of new and used Porsche coming which are competition (trade up or down) for used 997 GT3's.

- 981 Boxster Spyder
- 981 Cayman GT4
- 991 GT3
- 991 GT3 RS

There are a lucky few who are able to own multiple cars but most people trade up or down and so there will be more cars hitting the market.

I'd expect more to come on as people decide to keep their new car and cash in on the currency high value of their 997 GT3 (some will choose to keep it).

Only so much money available at this level and as prices ease or drop slightly it will take speculators out of the market.

There aren't that many for sale really, but i agree they are a little rich when you consider i paid less than all of them just a couple of months ago from an OPC (albeit a Comfort car).

It certainly is worth remembering that these cars are now 8 years old now and, if you want to keep them mint, will require serious money being spent.

most I have ever seen for sale and all been for sale a few weeks, crazy and not a track hack which is what they were made for.
May is GT3 hens teeth time the past 10 years !! enthusiast GT3 market is now dead !

Makes a Cayman R at 1/2 the price now seem mega value and of course the better road car ;-p

imo these are what they should be max ! good news is makes the R very desirable in the enthusiast market and should keep prices and sales firm.
Not sure who has been buying to make them go high but crazy people ! And a massive correction coming when interest rates go up.

Only car I was looking at were £80k 997.2 cars but these were the last to jump and now daft also.

True value :-)

996 mk1 £50k
996 mk2 £55k
996 RS £75k
997.1 £65k
997.1 RS £80k
997.2 £80k
997.2 RS £100k
991 £135k

While i do agree with that price list as to what they are probably really worth, I'd be interested to see what the Cayman R is really worth in your opinion when in the context of that list?

Not hating as i really ;like the R, in fact if i sell my 3 your car is top of my hitlist.

Quick edit to add, all the time 997.2 GT3 are £100k and RS cars are £130k for a gen 1 and £160k for a gen 2 then the 997.1 GT3 wont be going anywhere as it is in fact the bargain car out of the lot of them.

£42k for circa 20k miles cars with every thing, a tad more for sub 10k examples with warranty. no buckets or spyder wheels has to be in the 30's

the 987.2 Cayman is also quite strong money for a 2011 which helps.

people had issue over £40k and looked at 997.1 GT3 but now they are £85k £40k looks like value, odd market atm.

thing is the R's have not gone up, I paid >£45k (full top price at the time) so will take a hit but have put some miles on it.

every one wanted a GT3, now the normal person cannot afford one, so while I don't think R will go up they should stay firm and have been for the last 2 years.

I thought the 997.2 was a nice car at £79k and was very close twice buying one, but the GT4 put a stop to that game which in hindsite was daft I could have had a years free 997.2 use and also made £20k !!

For me it was the same price as the GT4 with good spec. No brainer in my mind as fundamentally one is a 911, the other is a Cayman.
that is a no brainer, mid engine every time ;-)

Mentioning it and a correction from current price levels implies you believe it's impending or such comments would be completely meaningless.

I'm pretty sure(!) you are wrong and rising interest rates with subsequent fall in asset values aint happening for a long time.

Clearly some of demons estimates are tongue in cheek but I do agree some are very overvalued and it doesn't suit me to say this.
The majority will flip cars and not sit and hold them which is what's happening now. It's a bit lemming like.

This said long term I think a manual Motorsport car is safe money so if they pull back in price there will be buyers for the ones that haven't gone nuts already.
Right now I wouldn't be buying RS models as a result of what people are currently wanting and if we slide off in price they will get hit the hardest IMO

Here's my opinion on the right . And that's all it is, an opinion. ( As ever the market decides )

996 mk1 £50k ............ £60k
996 mk2 £55k ............ £60K
996 RS £75k............ £100K
997.1 £65k ............ £75k
997.1 RS £80k ............ £100k
997.2 £80k ............ £85k
997.2 RS £100k............ £120k
991 £135k............... £135k

Edited to say - these would be the levels I would be comfortable paying.

I don't suppose you will be buying anything on the above list anytime soon at those prices but I do agree with you that this time of year, it's normally very hard to find cars. I was looking around May/June last year and there was virtually nothing on the market and the price rises had really started to kick in. Lots to choose from today and a fair bit of it is over-priced IMHO.

I doubt they will drop to those prices again ever.

but we all laughed at the 997.1 RS in viper for £100k last year.

I just don't know who is buying them now.

Ok so this just went up;

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

low miles 996 GT2 clubsport £135,000 ?

It's a great car or sure, but how can a car that was only worth £55-60k a year ago now be worth £135k, it's not like they have just got suddenly less of them out there, not many for sale admittedly but wow what a jump.

All the time a 996 GT2 is £135k I think the 997 GT3 prices are pretty safe, in fact they are a bargain in comparison.

Oh and JZM's showrooms a fking wet dream for any Porsche lover at the moment. They have got some amazing cars for sale.

In my opinion price's of these cars will drop before interest rates go up. Buyers dictate sale prices, way to many greedy people getting carried away with there pricing. The silver 997 gt3 currently advitised is a prime example of this. This is a 65k car tops not 78k!

Neither do I, especially the 991. It was hyped up so much that surely anyone that wanted one has either got one or had one and sold it. Still a great deal though to own a car for a year and get your money back plus a bit more.

Good luck talking the prices down smile
If you really want one of these car, i'm afraid the only thing to do is buy one and 997.1 currently offers the best value of the GT3's.
And I've no doubt Russ and his merry band of men at JZM will rectify that situation over the next 6-12 months.....
