I've not heard of anyone being offered a slot this year ??? I know there is some late builds still going through but I thought these were sold / filled late last year ??
Maybe that's where all the exchanged engines went, some new con rod bolts and a clean up ??

Does it effect driver enjoyment?

No, I don't think price depreciation affects driver enjoyment. However, it certainly affects the Porsche ownership experience, especially if you were duped into buying at overs because people here were saying your money was safe in 991 as prices were going to 200k!

Edited by ThirtySomething on Friday 3rd July 19:56
Don't think that anyone was forced at gunpoint to buy a car at overs nor was anyone 'duped' into it. Anyone who has the money to buy a £150k car one would assume has enough sense to apply a common sense filter to what he reads on a forum......

Also, someone who bought a car at overs has likely got to actually drive and enjoy the thing for the summer rather than stamping his foot stating continually that prices are too high on forums and waiting for prices to fall. In all likelihood, every other comparable car that offers the same performance like a 458/650s or even a speciale would likely cost scarcely less to shift later as well if not more even assuming one were willing to spend the much higher entry cost....Out of those 2 people, who has actually done better out of it.....?

If that is the case, I agree with you.

Mileage was nigh irrelevant when we had a normal depreciation curve, but it is the be all and end all for many not buying at list, and even those buying at list. The Yellow PTS at JZM had 3 owners on the book and less than 300 miles on the odometer. And because there is so much choice of low mileage cars, it influences behaviour and we end up with lots of low mileage cars i.e cars not driven a lot.

Macca & Sidicks and few others on here have done decent mileage, but it is not many and the cars on sale reflect that imo. Happy to be corrected on this. smile

So let me correct you then.

The yellow "PTS" was not PTS, it was racing yellow. The first owner never drove it. It appears he didn't even want to buy it - it was a cancelled order by someone on this forum. The first owner sold it back to OPC at cost.

The second owner didn't enjoy the car and sold it privately for a bit more than he paid for it. It was never meant as an investment.

I can't comment on the third owner, but I do know he's not a flipper and has other cars.

None of the owners bought the car to sell it. Oh, and it was obviously immaculate.

Thanks for the clarification on colour. You are suggesting the third owner has it, whereas I believe it was 3 prior owners when sold at JZM, So 3 owners who did not want it/like it and nothing to do with the money? Curious.

I've been a little tempted by the GT3 over the past few months, but it's off-putting to think that, the moment that a new GT3 comes out, this gen might again become the "one that had to have its engine out" and cause a major correction of residuals.

I'm not suggesting the third owner has it. He sold it having bought it from me. He bought it to keep it. It's up to him to disclose why he sold it.

Thanks, no need for the person/anyone to disclose anything, just a general discussion. smile

Of course it's a general discussion. I'm just trying to bring some balance to the commonly held belief that people who have bought and sold these cars did it to make a profit. We all know some people did that, but there will be plenty of people who have bought and sold because they didn't like the car enough to keep it. Just like there are plenty who love it and don't want to sell.

It's not a GT3 that will be remembered in my view - unless Porsche decide to go the forced induction route.

No, but a number of people who originally missed out are now being offered build slots. Clearly Porsche are filling their boots and numbers being produced are well above 132 original build numbers being touted .... its now well over 300. Hence maybe partly why you have a choice of 50 cars now!
Ahh I see. I think a few are cashing in and why not when you can drive a car for a year and maybe take 20k for the privilege then move onto something different .

GT3cs on here had one and didnt like it as a road car. I can understand that

Some very interesting comments and I think Mermaid has pointed out very well that a significant number of these cars have hardly been driven. So either speculators or as Alpinestar has also alluded, they just did not gel with the car.

I'd be very worried if the reason so many low mileage 991 gt3 cars are currently for sale is due to the owners not gelling with these cars!

is that not the same for any GT3 (the yellow 991 was a joke car to me, people did not gel with it but it had 300 miles) and now on it's 4th owner !

when I was looking some 997.2 had 10+ owners

people think they like them, own one, hate them as they make st road cars ! most GT3's have many many owners, on here less so, so you will get people saying "I have had mine for 7 years"
I have known people buy GT3's and take them back the very next day !!! the invester market has ruined the mark now though.

But PH is a car forum with very view owners in the real world, they just shout the loudest and have sort of run the Porsche section , with bk comments like "mans car" etc etc!

I'd be bloody amazed : it is without doubt the best car I've ever driven by a country mile - IMHO way better experience than a 991 Turbo S and also a 458 ! As I've ways said there is only one car that would make me sell mine and one car only and that's the RS.

Your double standards are shocking!

What are you if not a cut-and-dried Cayman R / Spyder / GT4 fan boy?

Why can't you just understand and accept that some people like different things?

I'm sorry but your comment about them being a st road car is completely ridiculous ! They are an amazing road car that have the flexibility to be an amazing track car. I drive mine every day that I can - sun , rain , whatever . To work , to the shops , on a road trip. It is super comfy , precise , unbelievably capable and then if required : in a word : BRUTAL ! Have you actually driven one ? You post the most bizarre things to annoy people , it's such a waste of time and energy , surely you must have better thing to do ? I know I have - angry with myself for bothering to respond frown

Anyone that claims a 991 GT3 can't make a good road car clearly hasn't driven one.

It's hard to take seriously anyone that decides 'they can't gel with a car' after much less than 300 miles, before the engine is remotely run in!!
