Does anyone know if the cerbera has an OBD port? I have just bought a bluetooth transmitter in the hope of viewing realtime data on my head unit, but i now realise i may have been a tad hasty..... Im just sure i read somewhere that the MBE ecu was OBD compliant?
Mine is a 97 4.5 if it makes any difference.....

Hi mate.

Aide will be the best person you can ask. He wrote the Android ECU app and seems to be the expert on all this stuff.

The thread for it is here, so it may be worth have a read through as I know it has been asked before, but don't remember what the answer was. Failing that you could Ask him directly, he is a really nice guy....

Let us know how you get on.

No - the MBE uses its own custom protocol which isn't OBD compatible. You either need a laptop with the MBE software or an android device running Aides app.

Or do a search for Evollie on here and download his software for the MBE ECU....Its a little less "flaky" then the original software

Hi Tobias,

There are three ways to interrogate the ecu in any standard TVR with either a V8 or S6 AJP engine.

1) Original MBE Diagnostic software (available to download here)
2) An Android version RS-AJP
3) EvoOlli Windows version

All three are up to the job!

Bit of a resurrection here, would it be possible (I'm sure it can, but could someone on here) to convert the MBE output to OBD with some sort of hardware ?

Why ? Because I have a data logging app for my iPhone which I'd like to get OBD data into smile

Is it possible? Yes

...RS232 to CAN could be made but AFAIK no one has built a system, especially now that there are alternatives apart from the original software.

To be honest, I have both Oliies and original software on a laptop with Aides software on a phone for mobile use.

Laptop has a serial port so works direct, very handy for garage diagnostics, I did see someone bout a TV and plugged the laptop into that for large screen display - very clever.

I use the phone when away if required, i.e. driving through belgium in 30 degree heat it was used to check the engine temp against the gauge (gauge show 4-5 C hotter) ambient air was 50C! Handy to reset adaptives somethimes

Change your ECU to an Emerald one, then you can use Bluetooth or wifi

The existing apps are great for diagnosis however I'm looking for data logging while on track, something that would work with Harry's lap timer for example. Can be done with Aide's + video overlay s/w but Harry's lap timer does it all if you have obd data.

Emerald + mapping is too much for what I want.

I just added some information about the logging functionality that RS-AJP already has:
