996 GT3 Need some help
Discussion
Hi guys,
I've stumbled across this car through a friend of mine.
I wonder if you lot can shine some light on what it might be worth in the current climate, in terms of me making an offer on it.
It's a 2005 996 GT3 with 28,000 miles on the clock. Obviously has done some track/competition work, also has some upgrades (not sure what yet).
I'm guessing the 'tow' eyes in the front and rear bumpers are a bit of a detractor, as will be the bonnet in black? and the fact it's seen some competition use?
Thoughts...
Thanks in advance.

The towing eyes should screw in/out of the car as they are positioned in the same place as the road cars. The important thing is to get the ECU interrogated for engine over revs in case someone has buzzed the limiter by missing a gear change of inadvertently hooking the wrong gear on a down-shift - there is plenty written on the forums about the relevance of over revs and when they took place etc during the life of the cars engine running. As for the bonnet, ask if it is the original bonnet painted/wrapped in black or whether it is a lightweight replacement? The track usage isn't unusual on a GT3 and as long as it has been well maintained, it can be seen as a better driver than a car that has been stored as part of a collection. Get a specialist to inspect is the recommendation and to check for any visits into the "scenery".
Non standard competition race seats. Timing equipment attached to the passenger side of the dash. Non standard rear wing, front PLU etc etc.
I would imagine the car has been used for competition, possibly rallying. Do you know of can you find out what maintenance/rebuilds has been done and by who. Has the car been involved in an accidents.

Interesting car.. what is the country of origin?
NZI don't know the car, but it has participated in a number of Targa road rallys.
