engine coolant drain plug seal /o-ring !?! 996 carrera

Hi guys,
Really daft question but struggling to find an answer.
Doing coolant flush on my '98 996, drained coolant at engine drain plug,
sealing washer is damaged, looks to be aluminium !?! Is that right or
should it have an o ring or copper washer fitted ?

Hi, Yes the sealing washer is aluminum.

Make sure you clean the sealing surface properly as they will leak if not perfectly clean.

I ordered those seals (and clutch parts too) from Rosepassion and they are made of copper. Will work ok I think.

Spoke to local Porsche Indy today, originally aluminium,
he didn't have any in stock but advised to fit a copper washer from any motor factors.
20p fix......... Wish there were more of them
