Bit of advice required.

Driving home from work today and not 3 miles in my PDK starts changing very jerkily. Shortly after I get a warning message stating gearbox fault: no reverse gear yellow warning message.

I limped home after calling Porsche assistance who informed me the car was safe to drive. Car being repatriated to OPC tomorrow.

Any ideas or view son what may have caused this?

Given she's only done 2300 miles frankly I'm effing furious!....

There are isolated cased of PDK failure, but small numbers really. The gearbox as far as I know isn't serviceable by the dealer, so unless its an electronic issue, I suspect the gearbox may be replaced.

Don't be furious, it'll be fixed soon enough..!

PDK failure will be an expensive fix when they start to fail outside of warranty in the future.

I had this on one and it was me being a plonker and the handbrake was on still. It made the box loose reverse and put the light on, had to be reset.

Definitely not the handbrake. I park on flat areas so don't ever use it as a rule. Besides, doesn't it switch off when you start moving on a 991 or provide a warning signal?

Porsche assist have left with a not so nice bus of a 5 series estate. Hopefully will get the dealer to provide a similar vehicle on Monday.

update from today.

OPC now been advised by Porsche GB technical to replace an item in the gearbox called the pneumatic valve unit or something similar. This appears to be the item that has, according to the download from the car, failed.

Meanwhile the OPC is very helpfully providing me with their demo GTS so I can get out of the 5 series estate lerv-wagon of death and boredom (albeit it 55mpg!!).

Sounds like I won't have my car back for about a week at the earliest......

Not in all the years of me having new cars (and as ex motor trade I've had a few) have I EVER had this type of failure with such little mileage @ 2300 miles.

I do have a sense of foreboding, or as any character in a U.S. TV series might say "I've got a bad feeling about this"....

It is very rare for things like that to happen and unfortunate that it has to you, but jeez, get over it. First world problems and all that, it's only a week!!!

Yeah, but it's the thin end of the wedge. It'll spread through the car like a Friday afternoon virus.

I had a 991 PDK do something similar to this. It was the second one the car had seen from new, the first one being noisy.

Resurrecting an old thread here but did you get the gearbox issue resolved . I've only had my 2013 63 plate 4S for 5 weeks and the car broke down last week , only 6000miles on the clock . Car wouldn't idle , continually cutting out , car was recovered and is at OPC for investigation . They have found 2 fault codes , both relating to excessive pressure in gearbox and they will be contacting Germany tomorrow for further fault finding advice . I'm thinking already that the outcome will be new gearbox , what a start to the Porsche experience !!

Its unfortunate to hear about all of the faults as it doesn't instill confidence for a new 991 owner hopefully you'll get the cars back soon and these blips will be long forgotten in no time... well thats what I hope!

Also I'm sorry to add another fault to the list as I have just had my 13 plate 991s for a week. It has 13K miles on it when it flashed up with an amber "fault cooling system - visit garage" There were no issues with any of the dials and nothing was overheating! Anyway it was picked up last night and it is now with the dealer for investigation and if required a warranty repair... I was sad to see it go so soon last night!

Well that's it been at OPC for one week now and yesterday diagnosed a faulty PVTS module following discussion with Porsche GB . Module was replaced today and was looking forward to getting the car back for the weekend but you guessed it , car the same , identical continually cutting out . Getting hacked off now . Covered under warranty but I'm losing patience

I hope they've given you a decent courtesy car and the Dealer Principal's teenage daughter to bugger?

A diesel estate? Man up and tell the DP you want a decent replacement and his daughter. Or perhaps DP the DP's daughter.
