Problem with this car is the fact that it wasn't serviced for 4 years prior to 2015.

Original oil from 2011 to 2015.

This was one of the reasons why I didn't buy this car from West London OPC 5 months ago when it was up for £62k, with 18,000miles on the clock.

Current owner has owned it for 4 months and done 4,000miles in it.

Are you sure it's the same one? Wouldn't it need to have full history to get extended Porsche warranty up to 2017?

I can assure you that it's the same car.

I viewed the car at West London OPC back in April prior to purchasing my gen 2 turbo.

It had had 3 owners from new, 18,000miles on the clock.

2009 car, had its first service in 2011 and then next service by Reading OPC in March 2015. Reading OPC spent £6k prepaying the car. I viewed the invoices. However they were prepared to offer 2 years Porsche warranty on the car. The car was advertised for £62k and they weren't prepared to negotiate on the price.

I walked away as I didn't want to own a car which has been used but not serviced for 4 years.

Definitely the same car.

Their website is misleading as it say Full Service History at the top, however this is not the case.

Reading the advert carefully it says "supplied through Porsche Centre West London, this rare manual 997 Turbo has since been maintained by Porsche West London throughout. The last service was carried out in March 2015 at 18591 miles, this was a major service which included 4 new tyre pressure sensors, Fresh rear tyres, New discs and pads all round, 4 wheel refurbs and a half day vehicle detail totalling a eye watering £6500. The car also had a 111 point inspection and warranty top up to 2017. We are selling on behalf of an existing customer and therefor this is transferable to the next owner."

Wow a Turbo S with "SAT NAV+SUNROOF+CERAMICS+BOSE" like every turbo S

Sorry but what a crap advert, car could be fine but close the sunroof and put the spoiler down when photographing, also white cars look way better with sills and front/ rear lips painted white

We all buy these cars to drive and enjoy- as someone who started my search for a 997 Turbo last August, drove gen 1 manual, gen 1 tip, gen 2, Turbo and S and bought a 997 Turbo S this spring my advise is buy the best gen 2/Turbo S car your budget will allow.

The Mezger engine manual gearbox mantra is a bit funny to me- the gen 2 cars are better in every objective way- faster, lighter, superior steering feel, better exhaust note, lag is all but gone, better interior, alloys wheels that look the business rather than the horrible/dated gen 1 offering- more importantly overall it's a far better put together, better performing, more attractive proposition.

PDK is a revelation, and makes the tip seem archaic. Try it- unless you absolutely 100% have to have a manual I would advise anyone to give it a go you will be astounded by the acceleration in sports or sports plus, it utilises the amazing power on offer so much better than man/tip.

Of course, that doesn't mean someone can't prefer the older manual car despite the above. There's no right or wrong answer if it just comes down to personal preference.

Generally speaking 997 Turbo wise demand is strong and there has been some price rise, a few thousand specialist wise, more than that at some OPC, both gen 1 and 2 have done their depreciating so you can't go wrong. They are all a performance bargain, and all quite underrated in their own way- as a usable supercar there is no substitute. It is getting harder and harder to find low miles, FSH, clean, high spec, unmolested cars in either guise so as the pool on offer gets smaller but demand remains strong it only means one thing for values.

I've done 2000 miles in my 997 Turbo S a lot of it on some great driving roads and loved every minute of it- the gap to a 991 Turbo S is massive even on a late 2012 car like mine and with only 2000 produced worldwide including convertibles I know it's going to hold value or maybe gain long term- there are currently only 3 coupe's for sale in the country at OPC (and 1 is very high miles) compared to the 12-16 991 Turbo S typically on offer.

Good luck to anyone on the 997 Turbo hunt smile

The late Gen 1.5 manuals were quicker apparently then the earlier Gen 1 as Porsche tricked them up to take on the mighty GTR

In UK I would have thought so. Not 100% but odd they would have reduced the standard UK spec from the gen 1 turbo

The 997 Turbo S doesn't come with the sunroof as standard either. It's nice to have (my car has it, would rather have it than not have it), but not a vital option in my opinion.

The other 'options' listed in the add for the white car linked a few posts above are all standard however- PCCB/Bose are both standard for Turbo S. The RS Spyder alloys were a non cost option- having them painted black was cost option- it's about a 50/50 split between Turbo S with these and the standard gen 2 Turbo wheels. The RS spyder wheels are great, and look fantastic in black with the chrome outer lip and the yellow brake callipers.

The car linked doesn't look particularly attractive to me however. Doesn't have a great spec, 40k+ miles which is high and has a terrible, unpopular, and not easy to sell on red interior. Rightly or wrongly these cars are quite miles sensitive in this country- not sure if that's an issue for you depends if it's a long term keeper. Colour is totally subjective of course- carrara white is a good colour but would be 3rd choice for me.

At this price level, and with this type of car in my opinion it makes no sense to save a bit of money but end up with a relatively high miles and average to low spec car. Take your time, view more than 1-2 cars, go for the best car you can not the one that looks like it will cost you less.

Thanks I stand corrected, odd given they were on 997.1 turbos

Would want my gen 2 to have that box ticked as I use mine regularly and head height is fine (I am over 6 foot)
