I am thinking about adding to my car collection. Cannot make up my mind.

I am not going to get much change out of 90k but I'd like to use the car also.
Not for track days as I have a Scud for that.

Any thoughts?

I sold my 993 Turbo (factory 430hp kit) 3 years ago to purchase a GT2, for me they don't compare as the GT2 is a truly unique car.

The 993 Turbo was good, don't get me wrong but from enjoyment gained in actually driving the car, once the whoosh of the turbos had died down it was a very neutral drive, I think the fact that I don't miss it much after owning it for five years sums it up.

Lots of info on GT2's on here once you start to look.

I think you may have a hard time getting into a GT2 at £90k as prices are on the move up for well cared and straight cars with a trackable history, my previous 993 is still for sale after the guy who purchased it from me 3 years ago sold it, its been for sale for sometime with this dealer.

If you want any info drop me a PM.

993 is old and classic looking now days but very pretty to most people.

996 is ugly to most people although some guys who lusted after them when they were new back in the early 2000s manage to overlook the aesthetics.

993 is classic bodyshell and interior from the 60s which means small inside but very quirky with the awesome slot in gauges and dodgy offset pedals on RHD to remind you it was designed to be LHD

996 is 996 interior which is much more modern and a matter of your taste.

993 steering is OK but not a patch on RWD 911 but the benefit is it can deploy all the torque all of the time, handling for a standard one is not very inspiring but safe and going fast FEELS fast.

996 fantastic steering and chassis and safe when standard but adding more torque makes them fairly dangerous in the wet for the inexperienced/inattentive. Feels stable and safe going fast.

993 for posing/cruising will get looked at and admired by the beardy brigade, fit birds will think you are driving an old pig.

996 for posing/cruising people will probably not notice you too much, just another old 996, fit birds will not be interested in a guy who drives something so ugly....

Haha I like that critique. But regarding the ugliness I think you've overlooked that the OP is considering a 996 GT2 not a Carrera/S/4

Indeed. 996 GT2 is the best looking 911 ever.

But for the true definition of ugly one need look no further than the front bumper (and specifically the Max Power/comedy front splitter)
vomit
Classic mid 90's aerodynamics hehe

And in true old skool Porsche "form follows function" it provides amazing stability at big speeds.

996 GT2
Better in every aspect.
993 turbo is just over priced over rated
Let's face it 996 Turbo is a superior car to the old 993.

I saw your turbo at Harewood on Sunday - it was getting loads of attention which speaks volumes for the 996gt2 look
