Its a nice looking car that is without doubt the fastest GT3 RS variant ever...
...however, it does not look like one of these, does it?
No it definitely doesn't. It's a brute of a car and maybe it will age gracefully but I'm not so sure.......however, it does not look like one of these, does it?

Anyway, I shall rest my case...

It looks too much like a road car inside and out (yes I know, even the old RSs were technically road cars...but at least looked more like race cars with decals, painted wheels, low tech interiors, etc )
No, it looks better than those old clunkers ...however, it does not look like one of these, does it?

You see, you prove my point. Its a different range. You do not recognise the genealogy. All I see is a line of fairly modern porsches that their marketing men have managed to make people misty eyed over. None of them nor the 991 have the purity of the 73 RS imo.
Rememebr all the posts on here about the 997.1 and how the pasm was the end of the universe. Would some stickers make it better?
Anyway, as I said before, any "genealogy" should be all about the driving. By all accounts it is epic. Mine is UV and I'm getting some special bits from porsche exclusive dept in stuttgart.

I know...I was kidding too...a bit slow to put the smiley on my post. All I see is a line of fairly modern porsches that their marketing men have managed to make people misty eyed over. None of them nor the 991 have the purity of the 73 RS imo.

(imv, on a semi-serious note, there is much greater purity in the 996 range compared to what came after)
I hope the special bits are decals and painted wheels and centre console delete

That's probably right...but then they could call it something else. A 911 Clubsport, a 911 Lightweight, or a 911 Brutus.....the RS has stickers!!
.
Couldn't really call a car that large and heavy a "Lightweight "!.
Rather strange anyway for someone to have clubsport delete (and perhaps even without the rear wing ) yet try to flip the car so soon.....

There's a thread on 911UK about it that says it was delivered without a rear wing? Is that possible?
No it wasn't - I've seen the car , they said that the owner wanted it without the rear wing and as such they took it off , but it did come with it as it's back on now. They said the owner was a long standing customer of many many years who wanted to make the car as conservative as possible On their site they have a 599GTO for £700k. Why would you want one of those over a cheap as chips F12? The 599GTO was never raced and the journo's at the time hardly wet their pants testing it.
That £300+ Scuderia spider too. Deary me, I guess the 0% inflation in the UK does not have a shopping basket going around high end car dealerships ....

So conservative he's not even bothered driving it, you can't get more out of the public gaze than that.

The reviews loved the GTO at the time. I thought my car was fantastic. GTO has also been compared favourably to the F12.
16M is also epic. I love mine and it is now over 11,000 miles from new.
Are they worth 700 or 300? If you can afford it and want one I guess you will buy it.

Is it only me that thinks the understated looks of the 2007 car look better?I've no doubt the new car is quicker by a mile but i think it's all a bit blingy footballer from Cheshire compared to the older car.
That being said I may just be getting old because i keep looking at gen 1 996 GT3's and thinking how wonderful they look.
