Funny you should mention the terrible Moll battery, as I have successfully had one replaced under warranty! The battery was under 2 years old, and Porsche replaced it with no fuss. This was inter group as well (battery fitted in Dubai OPC, replaced under warranty by UK OPC).
This is because the battery itself is warrantied for 2 years. So while it is excluded from the warranty on a car, if the battery fails in less than 2 years they will replace it no questions asked. They do occasionally fail in less than 2 years and if you can do that consistently then you get a free battery for life (as each replacement will be guaranteed for 2 years). Inconveniently though - most of the time they last more than 2 years. My experience of them is that every Moll I have ever owned has failed between 27 and 34 months old. Once out of warranty it is insane to fit them (Bosch S5 or the identical Varta branded version is what my Porkers have always ended up with - those are guaranteed for 5 years but I've never needed to replace one).
