Dont think that really is cheap - looks about what they are trading at. I paid £2k less than that for a GTS with 10k miles less with a major service inclu plugs, brake fluid together with 2 new front condensors and 2 new from tyres - without being inflammatory I dont see the point of the 4 GTS - to me its just a C4S with a powerkit. The GTS was for me was about being a wide bodied but rear wheel drive 911..Mine is PDK and I know the manuals are 'rarer' but with 3 of my previous 911's all being Manual I have become a PDK convert its a great box.

Seems about right but maybe a little low for a 4wd version. Agree largely about not getting the 4gts, but I guess it also gets unique suspension set up etc. over the 4s. To me the 2wd GTS makes more sense as a "special" due to wide body 2wd as you say.

It makes sense if you want a slightly more focused C4S with the power kit and harder suspension. When new I think it was cheaper to buy a GTS than a C4S plus power kit. May be wrong on that though.

Yeah fair point there I guess - GTS was a bit more of a focused car and the 997 GTS was great 'value' at the time. I was only making the point that the wide body rear wheel drive only car was a bit more of a different take on things at the time (not inclu the turbo charged GT2 of course!!!)

It's worth noting that it's hard enough to find a 997.1 with a powerkit, let alone a Gen 2 car.

The 997 GTS had to be great value as it was clearly a run-out model. Looking at used prices now, it was a great buy indeed from new! But quite an expensive used option now. If you want the wide body that much you might as well buy a stock C4S and save yourself £10-15K. You can't really tell it's not just RWD until it rains and even then it's hard to notice. Even the power kit is meh. It doesn't feel any faster in the real world, but the sports exhaust sounds a bit faster.

I decided in the end to go one step further & save a lot more & bought a 997 Gen 2 C2S a late 2009 car for less than £40K. A very well respected person in the Porsche world said to me the GTS still looks expensive. I thought so too tbh. As lovely/desirable the GTS is I think they have a way to fall.

Not sure I agree here Andrew. I think the 997 GTS now has a strong following amongst those who fancy a GT3 but either can't now get one or simply want to keep rear seat practicality/comfort. The 991 GTS has built on this success, and you could argue the 997 version is the one to have as it's not got the EPAS steering and retains the more restrained dimensions over the 991.

Already a future classic I'd say, but just my opinion!

That well-respected person wasn't the one selling you the car perchance?

The 997.2 Carrera is the sweet spot of 911s in the opinion of many people. The GTS, being the last and most sports orientated of them (outside of GT cars) is, as a consequence, a hot ticket. Which is reflected in their resale values. The 2-wheel drive models have been at £60k for a long time now and seem to show no sign of dropping.

997.2 GTS 2WD seem to be rock solid at £60k and have been for around 12 months.

911V have had at least 5 advertised since I bought mine from them last September and each has sold very quickly (usually within 7 days from being listed as coming in soon) for £60k+

Some OPC's still asking mid 60's...

So I would say this is a relatively cheap GTS if you want a 4S

Quite happy I got mine for £52.5 then!

It was leggy though. And I'm not helping that situation biggrin

Great car though.

Leggy is fine.

Mine is leggy and, like you, I am making it worse quickly. But in my mind that is preferable to having paid top money for a low miles car that I felt reluctant to drive.

Unless you've trashed it I cannot see your car being worth less than you paid for it.

I have always thought apart from the ultra rare cars its mileage that hurt 911's more than anything else like spec etc. I paid £52 for my GTS too 2011 25k miler from a dealer (not an OPC) last month.
997 GTS was clearly a winner for Porsche and probably now a permanent fixture in the 911 line up. I have heard rumours that potentially the GTS and GT3 may be the only 2 cars that remain naturally aspirated but we will wait and see.
I have never bought a car as to what it might be worth I just like driving and having fun but its a nice bonus that they seem to be holding quite nicely. A mate of mine said JZM had one and sold it within an hour on Facebook..not sure price though.

Glad to hear this, had my GTS from new and now at 33k miles. Still in great condition and just had some bodywork touch ups as well as a service and 4 new tires. Has been very cheap to run and I just can't seem to find anything worth replacing it with.

Fair to say I'm biased, but I agree the 997 GTS is a real sweet spot and the 4GTS is quite a different drive from the 4S (I drove them for a day each before deciding on the 4GTS). Mine is still a joy to drive after almost 4 years and 50k plus miles. Just one set of tyres and still (just about) on the original discs and pads so running costs are pretty good. He's a gratuitous pic. of a recent trip to the hills south of Munich.

1 set of tires in 50k, that's some going, I'm on my 3rd set in 30K.
