So i've ordered a new set of 18 inch wheels, 18 x 8 front and 18 x 11 rear
would you guys recommend sticking with 225 40 18 front and 295 30 18 rear
or should i go 235 40 18 up front and leave the rears 295 30 18?
I think I may be correct in stating that using 235s on the frontwould you guys recommend sticking with 225 40 18 front and 295 30 18 rear

will require 315s on the rear to balance out........Careful messing with it

Thanks, after a bit of googling this afternoon I'm going to stick with the 225/295 combos as stock.will require 315s on the rear to balance out........Careful messing with it
I'm also going to book in at centre Gravity and get either Bilstein B6 or B8 and lowering springs fitted so the new wheels fill the arches a little more and the shocks are getting on a bit now so a refresh won't hurt.
Ok so a few more changes to the car have taken place
I had the steering wheel re-trimmed by DesignLS who are really good and definitely recommended, and I got a Matching shifter as I've always liked the Alcantara interiors in the GTS/GT3 and I thought it would lift the cabin a bit.
Also bought some new wheels and tyres, the wheels are 18 Inch Victor Equipment Innsbruck and I must say I'm very pleased with the look, they really seem to fill the arches a lot more than the standard wheels
Before..
After...
Oh and I changed the bonnet badge to a Pewter finish badge.
Next on my list will be a GT3 style centre console delete kit and then a brake caliper refurb and when I;ve saved up a trip to Centre Gravity to fit some Ohlins R&T.
Over all the car is excellent, though I've not driven it as much as I would have liked to.
The wife and I have booked ourselves a road trip though in June which should put a couple of thousand miles on it.

Good work, lovely looking car!
I've had my 996 C4S now for 8 years and still love it. Even bought an rs6 thinking it was faster and more practical, but it's not a patch on the 996. So kept the 996 too in the end.
She's got about 45k on the clock and most of that is a trip to the ring a couple of times a year and a weekend bumble every now and then.

Love the alcantara bits you've added there Pete, looks great and lovely in black I must say!
My old C4S that was Seal Grey with lots of interior Carbon was recently sold via Cameron Sports cars in about Oct of last year. It was a 911 Virgin car previously.
I dont suppose anyone from here might have bought it? It was a bit of a one off as theinteriror was one of the best 996 interiors I had ever seen with the factory carbon.
I had it on A911HCM but prior to that it was on FB02 something. Current mileage will be about 65000.
Best car I have ever owned.

Hi James
Hope all well, all good here. GT4 due imminently! What are you driving now?
We were both privileged to own that c4s. Did you see it for sale at Cameron last year? They had it up for I think 24k with 60k miles. Prices are following turbo's now. My brother paid 28k for a 996 turbo 3 years ago when I bought yours and has just sold for over 40k.

Great thread. Great car.
Love the wheels...
...just not on that car (I don't think the sharp lines of the wheels suit the curvaceous car)

When I factor in the small detail that this cost 25% of what I got for the GT3 it blows my mind, 90% of the fun for 25% of the price.
I did similar, sold my 996 turbo and bought a 996 Carrera and reached a similar conclusion - 75% of the car for less than half the price. pete a said:

Hi Pete and thanks, I hope you are well and the new venture is proving a success. I will be along on a tour sooner rather than later i'm sure.SO looking forward to getting back out there again!
Hope to see you there
Kul
At the time of posting Alpine South was indeed the plan, however that was when it was going to be a September trip before Nirvana became Tours and the dates changed, since then the wife and I have booked our own little trip for just the two of us at the start of June so another one in July is a bit soon, I'm also going to the Dinslaken Porsche show for the bank holiday weekend with 911UK 30th April-2nd May so busy months ahead with the old 996, lets hope it doesn't blow up eh
The trip with the wife is planned as
Day1- Ferry then drive to Stuttgart and dinner etc.
Day 2- Porsche factory tour and museum, maybe some shops or Mercedes museum if the wife is not too bored by that point and then dinner in The Christophorus Restaurant and I'll pop into the cigar lounge after dinner I'm sure.
Day 3- Stuttgart to Stelvio and stay in the Folgore at the top.
Day 4- This could be a long day, Stelvio to Annecy through the Alps with maybe some motorway depending on how the time goes. Stopping at the Imperial Palace hotel on the lake which looks nice.
Day 5- Annecy to Le Dracy Fort, a shorter days driving so we can have a look around Annecy and have lunch before setting off.
Day 6- Le Dracy Fort to Calais and going to stop for a McDonalds and photo at Reims, as you do.
So all in all a bit of a shortened and bastardised Alpine Assault with a couple of hotel changes and a trip to the Porsche factory/Museum as well.
Alpine South looks great though, so probably next year for me that one.
Where are you staying in Stuttgart?
Stelvio to Annecy is a long day...
Imperial Palace is lovely, i was there in August. Beautiful spot. If you have time, i'd stay two nights.
Enjoy!
Fancy coming along to the inaugural PT meet?

Stelvio to Annecy is a long day... I know, i keep looking at that day and thinking I may have to leave early in the morning.

Enjoy! Thanks
Fancy coming along to the inaugural PT meet? Yes I expect I will do, quite a long way from Kent though and all M25/M1, that being said it will be good to see a few familiar faces

Have you considered swapping Stelvio for Andermatt - shorter days, better roads?
That does make a lot of sense Pete but I really wanted to take her up the Stelvio passAlso I've gone on about the Folgore Hotel so much she wants to stay there now and see how nice it is, and when I say nice I'm referring to the views, welcome and hot chocolate as you know better than most and not the luxurious rooms
I think Stelvio to Annecy is doable with a very quick lunch stop, just a long day.
