Yes I find the 996 is one of those cars I either totally miss, or will stop and stare at for ages - depending on spec, colour combo etc...

If there was any way of me having kept that car I would have done and it's in my list of cars that if I saw in a classified ad I would be very tempted to buy back

Iceboy, it looks great. Good job
Really enjoying the car. I have pushed on fairly hard and it seems to handle sooooo beautifully.

You can feel is pivot around your hips/bump....if that makes sense and also it really hunkers down when pushed in to a corner....oh and the sound!!!!!

It is like the thunder when you prod it, the induction kit (K&N) is sublime!

The 996 is massively under-rated... well the cooking version is. GT3 prices have gone crazy and I honestly believe the regular car probably makes a more sensible road car. I did drive several GT3s.... in case anyone's wondering.

The only advice I tend to give is DO NOT buy a low mileage one. The IMS issues seemed to be exacerbated by low miles, gentle use. Big problems *usually* manifested themselves before 50K.

Here's a couple of piccies of mine. Took it around Europe. Great car. It was featured in a 911 magazine, they called it a "wonderful example of how great a basic RWD carrera can be". When I told them it was a C4 they oddly never answered...

That looks superb.

I've driven both C2 and C4, and prefer the drive of the C4.

I've never really liked the looks of a 996 without aerokit as it looks too much like a beached whale..

but I must admit this pic from the buyers guide does look good.
