Need a new visor for my RX7 (track use only) Would you go for genuine or not? Quite a difference in price between them...

I bought a tinted visor for my new arai, £20 off eBay. It's rubbish, too flimsy to click closed properly without a lot of effort. I'll use it for now but think I'll go for a genuine one next time I think.

Original every time. It's one of those areas where you shouldn't skimp IMO, as you need good vision to ride a track well. My experience of aftermarket visors is they seem to distort my vision a little.

From experience with my old Shoei Raid2, the non OEM visor I bought wasn't as thick as the original and whilst it looked like it was a good fit, high ish speeds would produce an annoying whistling the genuine clear visor never did.

Genuine all the time for me from now on.

I've been wanting to get an original tinted visor for my carbon Bell M5X (you've all got one). However, I can't seem to find any in stock anywhere. The only other alternative is a "Bob Heath" jobbie. Apparently made in the UK, but its 2mm rather than the factory 3mm.

Same advice stands or if it's made in the UK it's fine?

Genuine only from me as well.

I asked the same question a few years ago, took a punt at an aftermarket on. It snapped they sent out a replacement. It never comes out my Arai with ease and the seal isn't as good a oem.

Have to say now I take into consideration just how much a tinted visor is going to cost me. Brands like Nolan, Bell are good for giving you one with your expensive lid. Arai give you the words stest carrier bag and a box. Then want 1/4 of the helmets value for a visor.

Yep, bought mine from the same site. Been using it for the last 4 months and had no issues at all; it's the same thickness as the original clear visor as well. No Bell markings on it, but it appears and feels genuine.

There doesn't seem to be the option to actually purchase...

EDIT: Contacted J&S; they said they have no stock and won't be getting any more... ARSE

I have a Bell M5X thingy.

I'm told by the local, and I think trustworthy, salesman, that the reason Bell visors are thicker is that they need to be in order to pass safety standards due to the differing plastic not being as strong.

2mm of a different material could offer the same strength if this is true. I would be unsure if it would impact fitment though.

Just thought I'd mention it.

I spoke to Bell and they said they're not making visors for the M5X anymore.

Absolutely this. In fact, I'm fairly sure that the previous thread concluded that even just buying a non OEM visor would probably kill or at least blind you, even if you didn't actually fit it and use it!

Yeah, I read something in the Daily Mail that said non-OEM visors are carcinogenic. Stay safe kids.

I'd try calling their Maidstone branch, I went in two weeks ago and they had a few iridium ones left, sadly I think I had the last tinted one in the shop.

They are selling light tint, iridium and mirrored ones on eBay.
