Hi all,

I've made a tit of myself and ordered the wrong diameter front discs for my 2009/59 E92 330i SE N53. Based on Real OEM + VIN, confirming with the dealer, the supplier of the brakes and doing everything but measuring (!) the front discs are 348mm diameter. There's no other parts offered for this, no M Sport or SE distinction and these are the only ones on offer. The car is now in the garage with 348mm discs to go on but they are too big, I have 330mm discs on the front.

I know I should have measured the discs prior to ordering and have learned my lesson (Real OEM has never let me down!). Can anybody clarify why I've got 330mm diameter discs on the front when every other source says the N53 330i comes with 348mm front discs? Was it a factory option? Being a 2009/59 model it was well into the N53 run and built in October 2009 so it was one of the last of the pre-LCI models. I'm guessing M Sport is the magic to get 348mm discs but normally this is clear on parts lists with multiple options offered.

Any input from BMW gurus or anybody who specified these from new would be appreciated!

Not sure how you managed that. I put your car details in to a BMW site selling genuine BMW only parts and it comes back with one option of a 330x28 disc part number 34116854999 at 126 Euro each.

I did the reverse once, ordered 330 discs for my 335d...they were too small.

348x30mm is the size of the 335i front rotor.

You can spec the 348mm brakes on the 330i as an option, just to make things somewhat more complicated!

The OP used realoem - Not the site that you used!

I've just put the OP's details into realoem and it goes straight to this page: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=WE72-...

Which shows: 01 Brake disc, ventilated SIZE:348X30 QUANTITY:2 PART No.: 34116855000

So it's actually quite easy to do it!

It is indeed easy to do! Even the dealer told me to go with 348mm. I've since found out that the magic option is, "additional usable load" (?) which is indicated on the wear sensor diagram but not the (separate) disc diagram. It's been a painful experience as the garage gave me the 348mm discs back in the box with them stacked on top (rather than flat to flat), I didn't check which is my own stupid fault and I've posted them back for them to arrive smashed up. I've learned the lesson and have measured the discs on my E30 before ordering!
