Shall I trade in my 997.2 c4s for a 991.1 - and if so which
Discussion
I bought my 60 plate 997.2 c4s pdk sport chrono + 3 years ago when it was 2.5 years old. I love it - fantastic car. It is my 1st Porsche. I use it as a daily driver which includes commuting 70 miles per day about 1-2 weeks a month. It is now getting to an age where I think I should probably sell it. Also the finance is finishing and I need to decide what to do.
I need the back seats as I still have kids who need a lift -although only the 9 and 11 year old still fit in the back.
I can probably stretch to £85k for a 1-2 year old 991.1. If so should I get a c4s or just an s to stretch the pot? What about a targa which I love the look of but will probably mean stretching the budget. Or should I keep what I've got?
All thoughts most gratefully received....

991 is a big step up from a 997 - especially in interior and "calmer" driving experience, the whole car is also longer - I've never managed to try out the rear seats. (But believe most of the extra space went to the front occupants)
Take a test drive, I've never driven a 991 4S but understand it's predominately RWD.
Early 991 S are now £60k ish not sure you need to go all the way to £85k.
If you need more space for the kids, have you thought about a late RS4, I've had two recently and they are bloody great - a low miles 2014 car could be had for pretty much the same value as your 997 (subject to its miles/spec).

That's all v helpful thanks.
I've driven a 991.1 c4s about a year ago when I took mine in for a service and the dealer was hoping to sell me a new one. I thought it was good but was not in the market so wasn't really focussingvon it as a possible purchase. It was v familiar, more refined, perhaps a bit less involving than mine.
Will have a look at the gts.
Yes I imagine the rear space in the targa must be compromised by the roof housing etc...

I'd agree that the 991 is a noticeable step up from the 997 - bigger, more refined, and a more complete 'GT' package, if that's what you want. PDK suits the 991 particularly well, although the 7-spd manual gearbox is, apparently, disappointing.
I've driven a C2S and C4S and preferred the C4S, which is what much of the auto press said (C4 has slightly better steering). Both good though and options and specification can make a difference to the overall package, but be careful of PDCC.
