I'm looking for something to power 2 sets of motorbike tyre warmers so 2.2kva or thereabouts.

I don't mind paying a bit for quality, but sub £500 for sure.

Anyone able to make a recommendation from personal experience please?

Honda EU20/26. Dont mess about with cheap stuff.

20 has a 2kw peak so best with the 26. Initial high purchase price but will last you a lifetime is serviced regular ( genuine oil / filter ). Supplied them for years, never had any faults with them. Well worth the extra money. And have good second hand residuals too.

The Honda suitcase generators are very quiet, reliable and for sure the best but they also have small fuel tanks and are seriously expensive for just track day use.

I used to use a Clarke open frame generator, the fuel tank was big enough for about 8 or 9 hours operation and it powered two sets of warmers fine. Too long ago to remember the model but it was cheap - about £300 and did the job perfectly well and was a 3.0 kVA IIRC. Downsides are it's heavier than the suitcase generators and physically bigger and also noisy - but just hide it behind the car at places like Cadwell.

Alternatively Kipor make good generators too, if I was looking to buy one now this is where I'd look: http://www.criticalpowersupplies.co.uk/manufacture...

Yep I second that. I run Honda generators and pressure washers for racing. My Gene was made 1998 and honestly runs exactly the same today first pull every time

On the flip side if you are just using for tyre warmers and rarely you can buy a 2kw gene from ebay for £150 but its a 2 stroke. Id get one just for that but dont expect it to last for 10+ years

I would buy a chinese copy , if like mine the inverter controller fails on a Honda EU it will cost almost as much as the thing cost new ....the KIpor ones seem good and half the price of the honda

If you want to stay on budget, the Clarke one from machine mart is good and on a VAt free day,is about £330.
